- Me, Myself, and I
- Camp Bestival 2010 will be coming atcha over the weekend of July 30, 31st & August 1st and will once again take place at the majestic Lulworth Castle, set against the backdrop of England’s dramatic Jurassic coastline in Dorset. With an intimate 15,000 tickets on sale it harks back to the first ever Bestival, where magic moments were shared between special people, creating memories that last forever.
It's inspired by the halcyon days of summers past - imagine the 1950s British Holiday Camp with a twist and you’ll get close to what Camp Bestival is all about. Expect to bask in nostalgia and fits of giggles as the Bestival Bluecoats, with the mighty Miguel from The Cuban Brothers at the helm, lead you on a merry jaunt around the most beautiful site in the world designed by Josie da Bank. Mix in entertainment of the highest order, splendid music, the biggest boutique campsite ever, excellent facilities for the outdoor life and a generous sprinkle of Bestival magic and you’re in our world.

It's all go at Camp Bestival HQ as Rob da Bank and crew gather together even
more astounding line-up additions and head-turning treats for this year's
Lulworth Castle jaunt. Kicking off on July 30th and running until August
1st, Camp Bestival, winner of the 2009 Family Festival Award, is set to
surpass the dizzy heights of last year's festival as we continue our pursuit
of the perfect Great British holiday vibe, with a multitude of amusements
for all the family to relish for a whole wondrous weekend.
Joining the myriad musical pleasures previously revealed we are ecstatic to
announce that Friendly Fires will be headlining our main Castle Stage on
Sunday night of this year's event. Already nominated for two BRIT Awards in
2010, the much lauded three-piece will put the icing on the cake at Camp
Bestival with a sublime set of anthemic, disco-flecked dream-pop that is
sure to illuminate their sheer mind-blowing greatness for all to see.
Rob da Bank says: "Camp Bestival's third trip to the seaside is looking like
a right old knees up - Friendly Fires have played almost every Bestival
going so I'm delighted to see them coming to Camp, we've done loads of work
on our arts and literary side and to have interview sessions with Andrea
Arnold, Nigel Godrich and DJ Derek is ace. Lots and lots more stuff coming
next week… Hold tight!"
Musical manoeuvres continue with timeless troubadour Marc Almond who will be
digging deep to give us all his solo and Soft Cell favourites. Dorset
resident and quintessentially English firebrand Billy Bragg whose previous
Camp Bestival outing was staggeringly good will return for a rematch. The
irrepressible Blockheads are chomping at the bit to ramp up the pub-funk for
the Lulworth crowd, Chicago's incredible Hypnotic Brass Ensemble are set to
blow you away and Icebreaker featuring BJ Cole will perform Brian Eno's
Apollo. Playing all the greatest hits from his much-missed previous duo,
Chas & his Band are going to Rock, Rabbit & Roll, Example's breezy summer
hip-pop is sure to beguile, the incomparable Wurzels come back to Camp
Bestival for their second cider-fueled excursion, enigmatic Mancunians Hurts
will be revealing their glacial cool and indie-rockers Field Music will
showcase tracks from their brand-new third album. There's also going to be
the sunshine vibes of Sunday
Best's Lucky Elephant, some kiddy-disco-punk from Kid Carpet, Leeds 9-piece

Camp Bestival announce Phoenix, Will Young & more
plus The Camp Bestival Ticket Payment Plan
& our Fancy Dress theme is 'Animal Magic'
24, 25, 26th July 2009 at Lulworth Castle, Dorset
Curated by BBC Radio 1's Rob da Bank
The sun is shining and the promise of a glorious summer is finally in sight, so what better way to kick off the summer holidays than in Camp Bestival's own inimitable style!
"I think only Camp Bestival could get away with such a riotously diverse set of line up additions: Will Young was a smash at Bestival last year dressed up to the nines in fancy dress so we had to get him back, Phoenix have made one of the best pop crossover albums of this year and I'm so proud to present them at Lulworth and Tinchy Strider is a star in the making and sure to have the kids... and me... bogling like crazy.
And after consulting the good people of our online forum, we've also picked the fancy dress theme for Camp Bestival 2009 ... Animal Magic! Read into that what you will... unicorns, bears, elephants, Scooby Doos, Johnny Morris look-alikes and Paul Daniels impersonators will all be very welcome to join our dressing up parade on Sunday afternoon. Roll on July!" Rob da Bank
As well as adding some sterling turns to our line up (see below for the full list of new additions) we are also introducing our brand new and unique Camp Bestival Ticket Payment Plan. As festival goers and family peeps ourselves we know times are tough at the moment and especially for families, so we've devised a cunning plan so you can buy Camp Bestival tickets via a unique staggered payment system that gives you the chance to spread the cost of buying tickets across three equal payments. Basically, if you're planning your summer holiday to our Dorset camping spectacular and you want to secure your place now, all you have to do is pay a third of the total ticket cost with the further two payments spread across the following two consecutive months, simple as that. We're proud to say this is a UK festival first that we've developed with our ticket partners Ticketline - one of the leading and most trusted companies for event ticketing in the UK.
We hope this will sweeten your summer and take the pressure off a bit, whilst keeping the kids and other-halves happy that a holiday is on the horizon. The scheme is available to families and to individuals buying Weekend Camping tickets.
This is going live from midday on Thursday 19th March. For more information and to register, please go to: www.ticketline.co.uk/camp-bestival-t...
