Me, Myself, and I
Work on Augury began in the winter of 2001/2002 when lead guitarist Mathieu Marcotte left his band Spasme and started auditioning a string of drummers to start a complete outfit. Shortly after, he was joined by soprano vocalist Arianne Fleury and bass wizard Dominic “Forest” Lapointe and began to jam complete songs.

In the mean time, vocalist Patrick Loisel pledged to join and, in February 2002, left his outfit Kralizec to become the band’s other lead guitarist. In June of 2002, former Adenine’s drummer Mathieu Groulx helped the band shape their first six songs and play its first show. However, lack of time and different musical tastes led him to depart Augury.

For a few months, the band spent time writing songs, focusing on string instrument arrangements. Later, Étienne Gallo took over the drumming duties. After months of arranging and rehearsing the songs, AUGURY finally commit their work into an album. Concealed was recorded by Yannick St-Amand and mixed by Jean-François Dagenais.

Creators of an extreme metal that includes death, black, and progressive tinges, Montreal's juggernauts AUGURY will release their album, Fragmentary Evidence, on July 17, 2009 (Europe) and on August 11, 2009 (North America).

AUGURY states: "We are proud to announce our official album release party for Fragmentary Evidence on August 15th 2009 at Montreal's Club Soda. All metalheads are welcome to this long awaited event.

To give you another taste of our new album, we have added another song on our MySpace Page. A rediscovery for some, we opted for the track "Faith Puppeteers," a longtime mainstay in our live performances, featuring vocals from Youri Raymond (Unhuman, Cryptopsy). For the happy people in Montreal, there will be a listening party at Cafe Chaos on July 16th!

Also, due to the amount of questions and requests, AUGURY members will make themselves available for musical clinics and private lessons during the upcoming tours. Suffice to reserve your spot by e-mail (info@augurymetal.com) in advance and a schedule will be established to accomodate anyone willing to learn a few of our secrets...we'll keep you posted!!!"

The band will launch their maiden tour of the U.S. in support of God Dethroned on September 30th and will return to the States again with label mates VADER in November’s "Decibel Presents: Monsters Of Death Tour."

Dominic Forest, AUGURY bassist, checks in from Montreal and shares the following about the upcoming VADER trek:

"We are really proud and thrilled to tour with a cult band such as VADER and are really eager to join our friends Decrepit Birth on the road. We will do video blogs while touring, so keep in touch with us on our MySpace page!!!”

Fragmentary Evidence was produced by Hugues Deslauriers (Clearwater Deathblow), Yannick St-Amand (Despised Icon), and AUGURY. Mixing duties were handled by KATAKLYSM guitarist Jean-Francois Dagenais (Malevolent Creation, Misery Index, Despised Icon). James Murphy (Death, Obituary, Disincarnate) provided the mastering. Album artwork is courtesy of Sven de Caluwe (Aborted).

Confirmed dates for AUGURY’s tour with VADER, DECREPIT BIRTH, Warbringer, The Amenta, and S.W.W.A.A.T.S. can bew viewed on the bands MySpace Page: http://www.myspace.com/augury

  • Tour North America With God Dethroned, Abigail Williams, Woe of Tyrants

Members of Montreal's AUGURY are preparing to embark on their first tour of North America in September with Dutch death metallers GOD DETHRONED, New York's ABIGAIL WILLIAMS, and Ohio's WOE OF TYRANTS in support of their Nuclear Blast debut, "Fragmentary Evidence".

Commented guitarist Mathieu Marcotte: "It'll be exciting to spread our music to a larger audience in America. Even though we have never played there yet, we have a lot of fans who are waiting to see us live. The challenge is the same wherever you're playing: to put out your best every night while having fun." Drummer Antoine Baril added: "There are so many great cities that I've always been dreaming to visit and it's even better to know that we will play a show in each one of them. My biggest challenge is to get better and better as a musician at each show and spread energy to the crowd to share the endless passion I have for this music we play."

"What we expect is a spiral of colliding human bodies, rotating as a single mass, yielding all that energy," predicted vocalist and guitarist Patrick Loisel. "In the end, it'll be like Godzilla trampled your town!"

In addition to pledging multiple updates during the tour and answering all fan e-mails, AUGURY's self-described "archive freak" (Baril) will be uploading video footage from the tour onto the band's MySpace site.

"Fragmentary Evidence" is scheduled for release on July 17 in Europe and August 11 in North America. The CD was produced by Hugues Deslauriers (CLEARWATER DEATHBLOW), Yannick St-Amand (DESPISED ICON) and AUGURY, and was mixed by KATAKLYSM guitarist Jean-Francois Dagenais (MISERY INDEX, DESPISED ICON, MALEVOLENT CREATION). It was mastered by James Murphy (DEATH, OBITUARY, DISINCARNATE). The artwork and layout was handled by Sven de Caluwé (ABORTED).
