- Ok, well its been a while since i last updated this thing, so long i cant actualy remember when.
well alot has happended since last time, my pipe dream came true, quit both jobs (evil council and Blockies) and right now i'm sitting in my Hong Kong hostel writing this. I flew out on 1st November and after HK head to Singapore, Japan, New Zealand then on to Australia for a while before traveling across the states on my way home next year.
The scariest thing is apart from my time in New Zealand, only a month, i'm doing this all on my own. Still sitting wondering if it was a silly idea or not but i'm sure the stories and that i come back with will tell me it was all worth it.
only been away a few days but i miss everyone back home, and now that i'm gonna have loads of time on my hands i'll be able to repky to all emails txt etc in speedy record time.
i'll update agian soon,
Love y'all

New Zealand
Ok so its been two months since i left new zealand, but at least i'm finally getting round to writing my blog, also the fact that Bebo is pissing me off and not uploading my photo's correctly is making me do this too.
Arrived in New Zealand after a long assed flight, throght the night with very little sleep and two of the first faces I see are Craig and Heathers. We said hello, i listened to Craig bitch abot NZ then we headed for the car. I was hoping to find somewhere to rest, having v little sleep and that, but they had other ideas. We got into car and then we started driving away from Auckland (probably cos Craig hates the place with a passion) and towards Hot Water Beach. On the way there we stopped in at a wee town, cant remember the name of it (craig you can help me here) and they dragged me up a bloody hill. I wasnt too great and just wanted to sleep, but from what I saw NZ looked nice.
We made it to our dorm, which was really a portacabin with beds in it and then got some food for dinner, it was my first cooked meal b myself in weeks. After dinner we went up to Hot Water Beach, his is where a hot thermal spring flows through the beach and when the tide goes out you can dig yourself a nice warm bath. was well cool but also hard work, especially if you wanna dig your own bath, or divert some hot water into it. Once we finally got back to dorm (where I had to ride in car in my boxers cos I had no towel) I fell asleep quickly and was out for count, finally some proper sleep.
I was wakened v early so we could start our trip down towards Rotarua. Still feeling sluggish from my sleep Craig drove to Cathedral Cove, but to actually get to it he made me take about a half hour walk, I wan't too chuffed at this really and moanedall the way there. Wort bit was we had to walk all the way back to the car too, fuck! Cathedral cove was nice tho and the walk actually woke me up a bit. Oce we were back in car we drove to Mount Maunganui, Craig climed the Mt but I jsut lay next t the beach with Heather., forgetting where I was and putting no suntan lotion on I ended the day with a bright red face, but a perfectly white shape where my sunglasses sat, let me tell you, not the best look for me.
We got to Rotarua where I bought a towel and some swim shorts (why I didnt talke them with me is a question I cannot answer, things you miss when you pack late at night) then we went Zorbing. I had been Zorbing before but this time we weren't strapped in, and there was water rolling about the Zorb too, it was well fun, and I still say if Craug didnt have such rap balance then I coulda stayed on my feet to the bottom. The dorm room we had in Rotarua was tiny, its probably how a sheep feels when they're on that truck you see on the motorway, not very good.
On our way dow to Wellinton we stopped in at Taupo for a couple days, we were planning on doing a big hike but the weather turned so we left that, didnt really fancy dieing lol. We also done an awesome caving trip in Waitomo. started with a huge 100m rappel (they say abseil, but wasn't against a wall) then after that, which took about 30mins out guide took us through the caves, through wee holes and over water and then we stopped so we could see the glow worms underground. It was welll cool but the bloody 30m vertical ladder climb killed everyone. Was a really good day but we all felt really tired afterwards.
We finally got the Wellington on 25th Nov, was good to get somewhre we cold settle for a while. A few days of seeing what Wellington has to offer and Craig and Heathr were on their way to the south island to work at a hotel. This meant I was left alonw again, and having about 2 weeks with access to a laptop whenever it wasnt long til I had bought one of my own. I had an extra 2 days in Wellington before I flew down to Christchurch in the south, there I saw alot of the city, and also took a trip to Adventure Forrest, was the coolest, and the scariest thing i've ever done, at first i0 Comments 230 weeks

Singapore and Tokyo
I arrived in Singapore airport at about 8.30pm and because i had a bother finding last hostel (Isee previous blog) i decided just to get a taxi this time. Got to hostel and was pleasantly surprised, itwas not the usualy 3 or four bunk beds squashed together, rooms were spacious, and plent of room for all my shite. got my washing done before bed and gave the floks back home a wee call to tell tehm i was ok. My first full day in Singapore was spent jsut walking about, looking at shops etc. noticed that there wasn't really that much worth doing there, luckily i only had 3 days. Tuesday i got blisters on my feet from my flip flops so the day was pretty much jsut spent watching TV in hostel. Got speaking to folk and went out for dinner with them, one of the guys, Vineet, took us to a local indian restaurant. but nothing like the 700 different types of curry u get back home, nope here, u get your leave (read, plate) and onto that they spooned some rice, some chutney stuff and a couple other things. Then u dig in, no cutlery, jsut clean hands. it was a weird experience bt it was good, plus it ws really tasty too. My last day dragged so much, was up early and flight wasn't until midnight. So by the time i landed in Tokyo, again with no sleep on the flight i was pooped.
But getting to my hostel from airport wasn't a quick we journey like the others. this time i had to get a train to one station, gt a different train to another station and then walk for about 15mins with all my stuff. took about 70-90 mins in total, which was horrible, i kept almost falling asleep on train, plus walk to hostel was full of people. Once i got checked in i pretty much slept from about 3pm til 9am the next day. felt much better then and heading into Tokyo centre. was very confusing trying to read the tube map, apparently it almost like london, but since i've never been there either it was pretty bloody hard getting about at first.
After i got back from walking around Tokyo got chatting to a few folk in hostel and we all headed out for a BNO (big night out). i spent a stupid amount of money, i still haden't really got my yen to pound ratio sorted in my head, and since the subway shut at 1am we all stayed out until first train in morning, at about half 5. i finally got to bed about 7 and was up again about 11, was meant to be meeting VVineet in city but he got held up. i was so glad cos i felt horrible. As horrible as i flet i was still persuaded to go out again that night,so we headed to a karioke bar, well when i say bar i mean some woman had a machine hooked up to her tv in what looked to be her front room. we were the only folk there so we stayed for a while, i sang a few songs then sat and had a few drinks in the hostel until about 4am.
Went for a sushi breakfst the next day and also wen tot se ethe Blue Man Group who were on. it was so cool, never seen anything like it. Went to Disney Sea on Monday 17th Nov. was such a good day. i was in park from about 12pm to 8pm. was so tired by end. didnt get back to hostel until about 10pm.
on the tuesday i spent the night in a capsule hotel. For those unfamiliar with the concept imagin a morgue, but instead of dead people inside the we boxes its beds. wach pod has a tv, radio and alarm, plus its really quite cosy, untill you hear certain noises from the guy along a few pods.
My last day in Tokyo was ok, watched 300 on tv at hostel then took the long journey back to airport before getting ready for another 11hr flight to Auckland.

At the begginning, my travels from Edinburgh to Hong Kong
Well sonce I left on 1st November i've been meaning to keep everyone informed with what i've been up to. But for those who know me know that my sheer laziness can, and usually does conquer.
When i left my family and Christine at the airport it felt strange, i stoo in the queu to pass through customs and started to think about what i was actually doing. Talking about going away travelling and actually doing it are two completely different things. I started to think about the fact that from then it was just me.
Anyways, got my flight down to London ok, but when i got to Heathrow things went a bit belly up. My bags got checked to Heathrow, my mistake, but i was ushered through the transfer gate. No one really listened at the airport until i got to the Virgin desk. it was there the guy told me that i would need to go back to Terminal 5 to get my bags and then back to Terminal 3 to catch my flight to Hong Kong. worst thing was I had only been away from family like 3hrs and already i had messed up. Finally got my bags and got checked in with about 5minutes to spare. i was rushed. got through security and next thing I knew i was having to board the plane, no time to look about airport, was a bit guted cos i needed a travel adaptor and padlocks for my bag. The 11/12hr flight to Hong Kong wasn't too bad. i didn't really sleep cos I was so cold, so by time i landed I was completely pooped.
after I got my bags the adventues began for real. i had to find out wher my hostel was, how to get ther and how much it would be. I thought about getting a taxi, but that would have been so expensive, so i got train to the station at my hostel, Mong Kok, and when i got outside the tube station the heat hit me for the first time. i was dressed in my big baggies, hoodie and 26kg bag on my back. not the best thing in that heat. tring to find my hostel was fun, first i went one way, then the other, crosed the street, back again but finally i mamanged to find it. The room itself was a box like, had room for my single bed, table and a small bit at bottom i kepy my bag. Didn't do much the first night, graabbed some food, got a very unChinese McD and then went back to room, crashed pretty early that night but was up early on hte Monday to start my sightseeing.
first day was a wash out. was out and about until 11am then once rain started I went back to room and crashed until later in night. got up, watched th light show at the water front and then went for dinner at Chris Ryan's. again not very Chinese, I got a chicken and rib combo. on Tuesday 4th Nov I went over to Hong Kong island, had some Dim Sum (see, i did try chinese food) and went up to VIctoria Peak to watch the sun set. by time i walked up Nathan Road to hostel i was done, so another early night was had. I went to Ngon Ping on the wednesday, saw teh big Bhudda statue there, its pretty impressive, but up a f**k load of stairs, really is no need for that. Thursday i went to Ocean Park in hong kong island, it was a really nice day and the park was pretty cool, even if it was a poor mans alton towers. The other two days i had in Hong Kong were pretty much just spent floating about around shops and that, i think a week was too long for me to stay here, 3 or 4 days would have been enough.
Oh well, onwards and up wards (well should really be downwards) to SIngapore....0 Comments 241 weeks
