I've been thinking lately what love is and what it isn't. I've recalled my own life experiences and I've been looking at quotes about it and one thing they all have in common no matter how cheesy or tear-jerkingly beautiful they are is that; it seems to be the most important reason why we are here, it's the reason we do and say so many things and why we interact and experience so many different things and emotions with other humans. It's because of love.

Love can mean so many different things to different people. Some people don't know how it feels, some people are in love with love, some people are even terrified of it.

Is love the man who sweeps his new bride of her feet and carries her over the threshold? Is love the woman that runs to the airport and tries to stop her best friend from moving to another country because she finally realises that she doesn't want her to go because she loves her so much and couldn't bare to miss her? Is love the mother that will work all the god damn overtime she gets so her son can go off to university because no-one loved her that much to even give her the chance? The answer to all these musings and questions is, yes. Love just isn't a feeling it's also something we as humans do.

If you're still reading this you may be thinking that I am wise and know alot about love and on the otherhand you may be thinking what could I possibly know about love because I'm 21 and single.

I'll tell you what I do know then. I know what it's like to have butterflies over a date with another person. I know what it's like to fall asleep beside someone I deeply care for. I know what it's like to be confused about my feelings for someone. I know what it's like to spend a whole day thinking about someone and not get a pick of anything done. I know what it's like to cry over someone who has hurt me. I know what it's like to feel rejected. I know what it's like to feel close to someone. I know what it's like to share my deepest fears and desires with another person. I know it's possible to be in a big crowd of people and feel lonely. I know what it's like to look in the mirror and feel proud of myself and who I am. I know what it's like to spend all night awake thinking about someone. I know what it's like to have someones face light up because I smiled at them. I know what it's like to hold a friend when they need comfort.

It turns out I know more about the feeling of love and its actions that maybe I realised.

I'm quite a logically minded guy and well sometimes I think that emotions are overrated and tears aren't necessary. Maybe sometimes it's more important to suck it up than crumble to your feelings. I'm still learning though after all I'm only 21. If I knew everything then what's there left for me to learn, even if it's only for tomorrow.

I've tried my damnest to rationalise love and I've finally realised that logic and reason cannot rationalise love, for it is an irrational force. It's something that just is.

It dwells in the most unlikely of places and yet it is all around. It is the lighest part of the human soul, that spirit inside you which you fear as it will bring you your greatest freedom that no amount of money, popularity or travelled geography will bring. Love will bring you home. It will set your heart on fire in many ways and many many times over. There are many types of love. The question is; will you open your heart to it?

I used to think that friends were the people that you could laugh and talk to. Now I know that friends aren't that, they're the people that touch your heart. You could spend hours with them doing nothing at all and it can be the best time of your life, just because it was with them. They're the people you can
share your secrets with, cry with, laugh with, and just have fun with. They don't judge you or make you change. They accept you exactly as you are. They look at you and they see a great person, one they love spending time with. You all share something in common and are tied together by memories, tears, laughs and smiles. You're tied together by love for the other. Friendship is the strangest but greatest thing in the world. I find my time with my friends, the best times of my life.

. People who point at their wrist while asking for the time.... I know where my watch is pal, where the hell is yours? Do I point at my crotch when I ask where the toilet is?

2. People who are willing to get off their ass to search the entire room for the T.V. remote because they refuse to walk to the T.V. and change the channel manually.

3. When people say "Oh you just want to have your cake and eat it too". Damn right! What good is cake if you can't eat it?

4. When people say "it's always the last place you look". Of course it is. Why would you keep looking after you've found it? Do people do this? Who and where are they?

5. When people say while watching a film "did you see that?". No Loser, I paid £12 to come to the cinema and stare at the fackin floor.

6. People who ask "Can I ask you a question?".... Didn't really give me a choice there, did ya sunshine?

7. When something is 'new and improved!'. Which is it? If it's new, then there has never been anything before it. If it's an improvement, then there must have been something before it, couldn't be new.

8. When people say "life is short". What the hell?? Life is the longest damn thing anyone ever does!! What can you do that's longer?

9. When you are waiting for the bus and someone asks "Has the bus come yet?". If the bus came would I be still standing here dumbass?
