    • my north island disaster of a holiday!

      well this weekend we went up to the north island for the ATV nationals up near Te kuiti, everything was fine when we left at 1pm to be at the ferry check in by 5.05pm.(travelling with 2 other families). The first incident happened just after the hurunui bridge, the whole wheel from Ffitchs trailer came off and almost collected the other family travelling behind them. So luckily it was only just 45 mins away from home so mum dad and i came all the way back and got Ffitchy's other trailer while the other stayed there and unloaded the trailer and found a place to leave the trailer, we finally made it back after waiting ages at the road works, we loaded the new trailer and were on our way at about 3. We had to do a 3 hour trip in 2 hours. we thought we had a chance of getting there on time until ffitchy got pulled over by a cop (which he had just rang to warn us about) for going over the centre line on a corner, he got done for having no warrant and crossing the centre line ($350). By this time it was about 5.30pm and we werent even at blenhiem so we gave up until the hendersons rang us and said they had just been let on and they told the ferry people we were only 5 minutes behind them and they were going to hold the ferry for us. So we put our foot down again and got on the boat at 6.02pm and sailed off at 6.05pm. When we got to the north island everything was fine until the saturday (the first day of racing). We got everything set up and everyone was ready to go. Dad had his practice lap then stephen (my bro) went out and had his, they have a "look lap" where they drive around slow and see where the track goes, then they have a couple of laps at a faster speed. We watched stephen go around the first corner then they went out of sight. All of a sudden all the riders stopped and the flags went up and there was yelling for an ambulance. Stephen had gone to fast over the jump and had somersaulted and the bike landed on top of him. The paramedics rang for the rescue helicopter, so he got a free ride in the helicopter althought he doesnt remember much coz he had been given morphine. Mum n i drove to waikato hospital while dad went in the helicopter, so we got there about an hour after them and by that time he had had a xray that showed a broken collarbone, sterum (chest bone), a popped AC joint (dislocated shoulder) and a collasped lung. So he spent the night in HDU in hospital then was transfered to an ordinary ward where he is now and he will probably stay until the end of the week, then travel home with dad. So he will be a very sore boy for a wee while i would say. But he should recover fully.

      This poem is so sad but so true. It almost made me cry!


      I went to a party mum,
      I remembered what you said,

      So i drank Coke instead.
      I felt really Proud Mum,

      even though the others said i should.

      as everyone drives out of sight.
      As I get into my car Mum,
      and as i pulled outo onto the road
      the other car didn't see me Mum,
      and hit me like a load.

      and I'm the one who'll pay.
      I'm lying here dying Mum,
      I wish you'd get here soon,
      how come this happened to me Mum,
      my life burst like a balloon.
      There is blood all arouns me Mum,
      most of it is mine,
      I hear the doctor say Mum,
      I'll be dead in a short time.
      I just wanted to tell you Mum,
      I swear I didn't drink
      it was the others Mum,
      the other s didn't think.
      He didn't know where he was going Mum,
      he was probably at the same party as I,
      the only difference is Mum,
      he drank and I will die.
      Why do people drink Mum
      it can ruin your whole live,
      I'm feeling sharp pains now Mum,
      pains just like a knife.
      The guy who hit mew is walking Mum,
      I don't think it is fair
      I'm lying here dying Mum,
      while all he can do is stare.

      write "daddy's girl" on my grave.
      Someone should have told him Mum,
      not to drink and drive,
      if only they had taken the time Mum,
      I would still be alive.

      I'm becoming very scared,

      you were always there.

      I didn't even drink Mum,

      lol yea wev been gettin prity gud weather atm. its sunny n warm durin th day but cooler at nites now wich is nice. been so busy latly. vaughans family r ova here stayin with his poppy. went 2 seaworld yesterday. we were a bit hungova so stayd well away from th rolacoaster but th shows n tht were kwl. hows th studyin this year compard 2 last? is it much harder? at least u gt a break this wkend i hope. 4day week wohoo! got nething pland 4 it? xox
