For over two and half years now Waterford clubnight, RePublik have been going about their business of keeping Waterford's dance scene at the forefront of national and international dance industry. With their finger firmly on the pulse, they have quickly risen to the top. This rise was given a vital boost on Sunday night last when the guys scooped the award for
'Irelands Best Small Club/Promoter' at the Irish Dance Music Awards held at Spirit Niteclub in Dublin. This itself is no mean feat given the completion they faced from some of Dublin's finest underground clubs. The award itslef is testament to RePubliks belief that big is not always better! One of the qualities of RePublik is the ability to host events in venues where other promoters would not find feasible. Although, thats not so say they have not hosted some huge events these past few years, with the likes of Mark Farina, DJ Sneak, Miguel Migs already regulars on their calender. What RePublik is known for is simple, quality atmosphere with quality music from quality DJs from all over; from Waterfords new breed to current local high fliers and all this with a fine selection of international DJs and acts along the way. The guys have also hosted events in the UK and USA and were the first local club to get their own weekly online radio show. These guys firmly have all angles covered and this award is without doubt well deserved. We caught up with the guys who explained '' This award is great for not just all us involved with RePublik, but also is about the regular RePublik party goers who have been nothing short of amazing these past fews years. Its great to see that we have regulars from all ages, from people coming to their first club to metroland and roxy veterans, and really the award is about them. without them we would not be here nearly three years on, so we have to say a huge thanks to all those people who turn up almost religiously at this stage, its something we didn't think was possible when we started out in the summer of 05. What is mostly pleasing about receiving the award is that the Waterford dance music scene is capable of taking an award that normally goes to clubs withink Dublin, it really puts Waterford back on the clubbing map given the fact we have lost some major clubs these past few years'' After many moves in its 2 and a bit year existence, RePublik has since November 07 set up a weekly residency at the intimate and uber cool Loft above Electric Avenue and will continue to host some big names in the Main Room of Electric Ave. They tell us they have some mouthwatering gigs lined up for 08 with the likes of Kerri Chandler, Dj Deep , Atjazz to name a few. In fact the guys have said that the official 'Celebration Party' will take place at The Loft on February 9th when they welcome one of the most respected names in house, Atjazz. They have let us on a little secret too, well here it is for you too straight from the boys themselves '' As a way of saying thanks to our regulars, we will be hosting a FREE Loft Party first Saturday in March which is our way of sincerely thanking all those regular faces, and we hope they come along and enjoy the fun and celebrations''

Canadian born Jason Hurtubise, first arrived in the house music scene in late 1991, taking on Toronto’s underground party scene he developed his DJing skills on the decks with the likes of New York - New Jersey sounds. Hard-hitting beats with deep grooves became the signature sound for Hodges – whether in the studio, on the dance floors; from local Toronto gigs, to the surrounding towns around Ontario and across Canada, Hodges was growing and coming into his own.
Jason began releasing records with various Toronto labels getting his feet wet remixing and co-producing tracks with some of Canada’s talents. After many years of training and development, Hodges returned to the scene with a new energy and a new plan. He continued to build his profile; remixing artists like Freaks on MMF, Kaskade on OM, Sneak’s “Fix my Sink” on Magnetic, Cozy Creatures Oomph, among many others in the horizon. 2003 opened the floodgates for world travel and new music projects, promising a steady and bright future for Canada’s best-kept secret.
The name Jason Hodges represents the technical craft he pours into every production, with highly anticipated tracks being played and praised by the likes of Mark Farina, DJ Heather, Derrick Carter, DJ Raoul and Sneak, among other eminent House Music Pioneers around the world.
Join Jason along with RePublik's Warren Sauvage, Kenno , Paul Bryan and support coming from Marc Daly .
Doors from 8pm Friday November 9th, at Electric Ave, Waterford
