Future Artists 2 : Saturday 28th November, Urbis Manchester
The revolution will not be televised, In the Northwest of England they are switching off the analogue signal, Winter Hill, which has been supplying the Northwest with its TV for over 50 years, goes silent…
We are in the mists of a media revolution, and to celebrate the fact that the old gate keepers are blundering in this Golden age of internet
(ITV buy Friends Reunited for over 120 million pounds, and a few months back sold it for 15 million pounds)
In July 2009, a new film studio launched in the northwest, Future Artists was born out of a need, to make content and to make films that where relevant to a modern audience, using a virtual film studio model, and various collaborators from across the world.
Future Artists has become a tour de force in the UK film industry,
a co-production deal with Award winning Spanish producer Manuel Cristobal, crowd sourcing a feature length film and working with British frontline soldiers returning from Afghanistan, and running a live event to network, inspire, showcase and celebrate the film-making talent in the north of England.
Future Artists Live is back on the 28th of November 2009, after the success of the premiere sell out event in July, as part of the Manchester International festival fringe.
Future Artists 2: Not part of media city yet? Is the name of this showcase event, and future artists has teamed up with shooting people, 4iP, DNA Actors resource, Smith and Smith PR and the Urbis to bring you another unique forward thinking networking event.
Continuing with their aim to put the UK at the head of the digital and transmedia revolution Mark Ashmore and Jenny Inchbald have put together a unique event in the style of an unconfrence, to be also streamed live on line, with a massive Christmas after party.
Mark explains “actors, writers, directors, producers, film or TV crew, web designers and so on are all going through a time of constant and rapid change courtesy of the digital age as budgets are shrinking, its a real challenge”.
He goes on to say “budgets have shrunk in TV and film so everyone is now multi skilled and multi tasking as the industry has changed, do creatives in the golden age of open source transparancy need a master? The rules have changed, this event is to help establish some new rules'.
Jenny adds “People who work in the media industry know what they're problems are and don't need to pay hundreds of pounds to listen to film and TV executives when they're revenues are falling and they haven’t found a solution either”
Jenny continues “So we decided to put together an anti conference so that the industry can decide for its self what we want to know and we can find the best people to answer our questions”.
Attendees are able to register with the forum on line at futureartists.co.uk and then discuss what they would like to know about or hear from or if they are feeling brave volunteer to talk on a subject. For those who can't make the event it will be streamed live with interactive chat taking place on twitter.
So get Involved go to http://www.futureartists.co.uk/notpa... and join the forum, register, and start to network, innovate and collaborate.
In the room confirmed so far will be Lucy Wurstlin 4ip, digital commissioning manager North West (Channel 4), Darren Gorden from DNA actors resource and Morello Cherry Acting agency, Colin Warhurst BBC camera specialist and Jenny Inchbald as a transmedia specialist, with many more due to confirm in the next few weeks.
Future Artist have teamed up with the worlds largest independent film makers network Shooting People and are giving away 6 weeks free membership to all attendees.
Jenny and Mark have been a big hit on the independent scene and are now embarking on their first feature film with one of Spain's most well respected and multi award winning producers, Manuel Christobal of Perro Verde Films, a due out in 2011. Jenny has also been invited to speak as0 Comments 193 weeks
