Ali Mac's poetry. Since he won't update, I'm theveing.
Take the case of poor Goldilocks,
Who sneaked into a shiny Swiss box,
No matter how much she foraged,
She just couldn’t find porridge,
In the kitchen-less shiny Swiss box.
With design it is all about patter,
What you draw it no longer seems to matter,
Without ‘sense of place’
You are condemned a disgrace,
As the London architects get fatter and fatter.
With my course I have run out of luck,
An architectural sitting duck,
No matter if it’s Chipperfield or Diener,
The crits just keep on getting meaner,
But I really don’t give a…toss.
Neary finished the degree anyway!0 Comments 286 weeks

An Englishman, an Irishman, and a Scotsman went to Switzerland...
No, seriously, we did! Bill, Patric and I -
We went for the architecture, for those of you not in the know Swiss architecture is pretty good, to look at it, think about it, and be inspired by it (read stealing ideas, but in a nicer fashion)
First in Basl for two nights, Great town, free tram and bus transport from the hostel, GREAT hostel. Lots of architecture to see, and lots that we saw without expecting it or knowing of it’s existence.
Then to Zurich again for two nights, where we didn’t get free tram tickets but we did get rained on, again a pretty fab hostel. I was generally less impressed by the architecture in Zurich than Basl, except for the Silhoff(sp?) school, that was probably my architectural high point.
Our fifth night was spent in a hotel in Chur, not particularly impressed by the hotel but the host was amiable and all was well, we in Chur a bit but mostly ventured out of the city into surrounding villages. The Swiss have an astounding rail and bus system, always running on time, clean, helpful drivers/conductors etc. etc. etc.
Our sixth and final night was spent in Vals, at the thermal baths. The hotel was ok, huge up point was having our own oven and hob, down point no food to cook. The thermal baths themselves? Great. I can't adequately begin to describe so I'm not even going to try.
Photo's should be up once I grab them from the other two...
