I know this guy.

Pretty decent guy, funny, loved by many, generally well known. My heart bleeds for him, I feel the deepest of deep pains when I think of him. It saddens me to know what lies ahead of him.

He has an eye condition known as Aniridia, its a genetic disorder where his eye's and retina's weren't fully completed while he was in his mothers womb. Because of this, his iris's are darker than normal, and he has limited vision.

Because of his under developed retina, they have become weak, and are tearing off from the back of his eye, It's slow and its completely painless.

He's already lost most of his vision in his left eye, but his right eye retains a 100% visibility status. But not for long.

It was estimated with eye drops and medication, they can extend his vision by another 5 years. with medication, he will turn completely blind by the age of 25.

He has 7 years to enjoy what vision he has. The really saddening part is, that he cannot bear to be without sight. He wants to read a book, write a sentence, he wants to see the woman he falls for, the woman he marries, and has kids with. He wants to see his kids grow up. He wants to keep his independence. He wants to kill himself, he says 'Why must i live the majority of my life in darkness?'

I couldn't come up with an answer. I really don't know what to tell this guy.

should I just say 'Yeah, go for it, you got nothing waiting for you.' or should I say 'People live on blind and live a fulfilling life'?

I feel sorry for him, I really do. I can only imagine what he is going through. I fear for him, what will happen to him? an Independent man, having to rely on other people just to be able to get out of bed.

I get scared every time I think about him. Every time I think about his situation.
