Motor Madness
Hello all just a quick update, unfortunately i still haven't sorted pics for you all to peruse (still a lazy mothertrucker)but will try upload some soon as in the next week at least, anyway am in Beijing now, Shanghai was great but got a bit overbearing after a few days (too many skyscrapers) so just decided i would head on last friday.
Getting to the train station on friday to get here was an ordeal but one worth sharing as it was also hillarious. To start with my train to Beijing was to leave at 7 in the eve and arrive at 7 the next morn so idecided it would be a smart move to be at the train station for 6 to give my self some time to suss out wht platform etc. now the train station is about a 20 min drive so i hwanted to be leaving my hostel at about 5:30 in the eve to give myself time to get a cab and such,so you might think yeah that all seems straight forward no problems there, wrong! didn't leave my hostel till 5:50 as food i ordered arrived late but at this stage i'm thinking no panic still have lots of time just not as much as i would have wished for, so off i went to find a cab but stupid me wasn't thinking and it's now rush hour in Shanghai and not a cab to be hadso after 15 mins of trying to catch one the panic finally sets in, with no cab to be had i started weighing up my options should i get a train no can't do that as don't know how close to the train station the train goes the only other option is to catch a motorcycle taxi (oh yeah haven't mentioned yet there are these guys in Shanghai who just drive around on they're bikes and take fares, some bikes are good some not so good) anyway with no other options this was what i did, i flagged one down (not so good) a piece of shit bike, so the guy pulls over doesn't have a word of english and my chinese is non existent so fortunately enough i have a book on china that has a few phrases in the back and was able to point out train station to him an off we went. Now! picture this me sitting on the back of an ancient 250cc bike a fairly large backpack on my back and a small one on my front clinging on to the back of the bike with one hand and to the loose helmet he gave me (a workmans hard hat) with the other careering through the Shanghai traffic which is mental, they just don't stop for red lights, all i could do was laugh and mention U2 and Roy Keane whenever he tried asking where i was from, the whole situation was bizzare and definately an expeirence i would not have had if i'd not come here, anyway he got me there at 6:30 and all was well and i made it to the train and am now in Beijiing still laughing about it. Well after rambling now for a whole page i think i'm gonna go get a beer, but i hope you all get as much of a giggle out of this scene as i did experiencing it.

Hello all have arrived safe and sound in china, can't use gmail here
hence the bebo messages, all is good, shanghai is by far one of the most beautiful cities i've ever visited and the bund at 8 in the evening is just awesome and breath taking and is a must see,
there is no head phones here so probably won't be calling anyone untill i get to beijing but that said, Alan let my mam know that i will try to find a phone place to call her sooner, as for pics i'll try upload some stuff as soon as i'm sorted but it's more likely that these will be added to my myspace address which i wll pass on to all in due time.

New zs going pretty well, leaving auckland tomoro for a job in hastings in joinery, the guys paying for my bus down and letting me stay with him and his wife hopefully it will work out n i can pay for my flight home then, i was trying to see were there any available flights for around paddys day was havent much luck, woul du be up for a sesion or two if i went there for a wk ? we could continue our spiritual conversations in bbs then go chase some seagulls on bondi
