-I think psychedelics play a major part in what we do, but having said that, I feel that if somebody's going to experiment with those things they really need to educate themselves about them. People just taking the chemicals and diving in without having any kind of preparation about what they're about to experience tend to have no frame of reference, so they're missing everything flying by and all these new perspectives. It's just a waste. They reach a little bit of spiritual enlightenment, but they end up going, 'Well, now I need that drug to get back there again.' The trick is to use the drugs once to get there, and maybe spend the next ten years trying to get back there without the drug.

Shrooms are awesome for getting back in touch with your root.
LSD is for reaching out with your branches.

The way I see it: psychadelic drugs are not a vacation from reality, they are a vacation to reality.

The chance of me going insane off mushrooms always seemed less likely than going insane without them.

All I know is that I'd rather take a pile of physically harmless mushrooms every couple of months to bring me back to nature and the universe, than to chug a large cup of coffee every morning just to have the energy and will to go to school/work.

I think of it this way: Sobriety is a six sided cube. Each angle representing one facet of life, society, the tangible world, your thoughts, etc. On mushrooms, you feel like you are interpreting about 20,000 angles at once... The fun part is that you can keep up.

who would be their teacher after death.

Look not for a refuge in anyone besides yourselves.
And those, Ananda, who either now or after I am dead,
