The Queensland State of Origin team is a rugby league team representing the state of Queensland that plays in Australia's annual three-match State of Origin series against arch-rivals the New South Wales team.
Traditionally known as The Maroons in reference to the maroon jerseys that they wear, the Queensland side plays three matches each year against New South Wales. Like the NSW Origin side, the team is purely representative, with players being chosen from the National Rugby League.
Considered the toughest series in the representative rugby league season when this state verse state rivalry reaches it's peak these 3 games could possibly be the best games of the year.

NSW HAVE THINGS TO BE PROUD OF THESE ARE WHAT THEY SHOULD REP:
1)HAVING THE FIRST ORIGIN CAPTAIN TO BE PLAYED OFF A BENCH BEING KURT GIDLEY IN GAME II OF THIS YEAR
2)TO BE ON THE END OF LOSING FIVE ORIGIN SERIES IN A ROW WHICH IS NOW THE WORST RECORD OF BOTH STATES.
3)HAVING SHIT SELECTORS WHO PICK DIFFERENT SIDES FOR EVERY GAME.
NSW ARE A LAUGHING STOCK OII
IF U COME UP ON HERE REPPING SOMETHING U BETTER REP THE TRUTH
2006 QLD WON
2007 QLD WON
2008 QLD WON
2009 QLD WON
2010 QLD WON
And next year it will be SIX since QLD have a side that have stuck together and are basically a ready made team whereas NSW can't pick their nose let alone a team

THEY were forced to fight for it, but in the end nothing could prevent the irresistible force that is the Queensland State of Origin side from claiming their place in history.
Already hailed as the greatest Origin side of all time, after clinching five straight series, Mal Meninga's men on Wednesday night provided the exclamation mark on their incredible period of domination.
With champion skipper Darren Lockyer leading from the front, and star fullback Billy Slater, a deserved winner of the Wally Lewis Medal for player of the series, coming up with the big plays at both ends of the field, Queensland closed out a hard-fought 23-18 win.
Against a desperate Blues side the Maroons were forced to fight harder than at any point in recent games and looked like they might even be rolled when NSW edged ahead with only 10 minutes to play.
But that is not the Queensland way.
"We are never beaten and this was a very courageous performance from a great rugby league team," Meninga said.
"It is not my role to comment on where this team sits in history, but I know as a player and a coach I have never been involved with a group that has displayed more character."
Slater personified that character on Wednesday night as he, against all odds, held up rampaging Blues forward Anthony Watmough to keep Queensland in the game. And then at the other end ran a sublime line to score what proved the decisive try.
"It was a great tackle, but we came up with a series of those. It showed how much we wanted this," Meninga said.
"Winning a series 3-0 was the one thing this side hadn't achieved. But as Darren said, this is the monkey off the back now. It has been a while since a Queensland team had made a sweep of a series, so it is special.
"We had to do it tough and really dig deep. Play for each other. They have great belief and great mateship. These boys do whatever it takes to be successful."
Lockyer, with blood oozing from his left eye, looked the ultimate warrior in every sense.
While showing little in terms of emotion, he described the win as a career highlight.
"To have this in the bag is a great thing and to achieve it as we did, it is testimony to what we are all about," he said.
"I don't think it will really sink in until we wake up tomorrow, and we realise what we have done. Tonight we had to dig deep and that's what good teams do.
"We showed character and ultimately that's what our success has been built on."

QUEENSLAND warhorses Darren Lockyer and Petero Civoniceva had a beer to discuss their State of Origin playing futures but early indications are they will go around again.
That's great news for Queensland and horrible news for NSW after the Maroons' amazing 23-18 win at ANZ Stadium on Wednesday night gave the state its first series clean sweep since 1995.
Queensland looked dead and buried after defending for long periods and then conceding a 69th minute try to Greg Bird which gave the Blues an 18-13 lead with the Maroons out on their feet.
But they hit back through tries to Billy Slater and Willie Tonga, with Lockyer giving the final pass for Slater's matchwinner in the 74th minute.
Halfback Johnathan Thurston landed the pressure conversion to give Queensland a 19-18 lead with the one-point advantage coming courtesy of a majestic 45m Lockyer field goal just before half-time.
Battle-scarred Lockyer said after the game he wasn't sure where he stood in terms of his playing future.
"Tonight was really special and for the moment I just want to savour it," the skipper said.
"The result tonight was never going to influence my decision.
"Petero and I have had a chat about it and at this stage we're obviously keen to be involved next year but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
"It wasn't looking great ... out there with 10 minutes to go, but I'm just thrilled for the boys because they've put in a lot of effort over the last few years.
"To the Blues' credit, they played a lot of good footy and really responded under pressure. We had to fight really hard to come back."
Asked if this was the end of his Origin career, Civoniceva said: "What did Locky say?"
Told he was having an each-way bet, Civoniceva replied: "Well, we'll have a beer or two tonight and chat about things. But I do know this means a hell of a lot to us.
"After the disappointment of the third game last year, we really used that as a source of inspiration for every game this year and our preparation has been first class for every game.
"I couldn't be more proud of the guys. In the huddle behind the line (after NSW took the lead) we just spoke about how we never give up. We fight for every set and guys just kept turning up for each other.
"We held in there and turned it around and it just shows how much pride we have in this jersey."
Queensland hooker Cameron Smith said the win was the highlight of his 21-match Origin career.
"Locky's field goal was unbelievable and his leadership was superb," he said.
"When we were five points down with 10 minutes to go, we knew what we had to do and we did it. It's a great honour to be part of this team."
Queensland coach Mal Meninga described the win as "courageous".
"We came up with a series of try-saving efforts," he said.
"Cameron Smith running down Hayne was an example. Our scramble defence was excellent and it had to be."
Meninga, who turns 50 on Thursday, said the clean sweep had taken the final monkey off the side's back after five straight titles.
"It's the best birthday present I've ever had," he said.
