  • Travels have ended

    6th June

My travels have well and truly come to an end now. I am back in England, and trying to readjust to the regular!

I spent my last week in Florida generally relaxing and soaking up the sun, which i knew would not be quite so easy to find back in the UK. And i was right because i touched down at Gatwick to rain, rain and greyness. Which continued for practically the whole week. I was so not impressed and was beginning to get very bummed bout being home. But a trip down to see Laura in her last week of uni sorted me out with much fun and games. Pimps and hos was the theme of the evening to celebrate Lauras birthday - chavvy bling, fishnet tights and stilettos, woo woo! Of course, got totally drunk, and then had to get up at 8.30am to get the 5 hour coach back to London!

I have been tres busy trying to catch up with as many people as the hours will allow. But that has included way too much alcohol and money, so i think it will just be nights in from now on!

And now for todays fun activities... looking for a job! Good luck with that!!!

  • Sheep in the Big City

    14th May

After about 2 minutes of confusion that i was now, totally on my own, i got quite excited and made my way up to the slightly dodgy hostel, that wouldnt even let me keep my big rucksack in my room - they wanted me to leave it in reception and just take what i needed!! What is the point of having a bag if u cant even take it to ur room!?? Since I had just trekked up the 4 flights of stairs to my room with it already, BEFORE they told me this, i was not impressed! So i used my best, sweet smile and convinced them to let me leave it up there, and quickly went out the door for the rest of the day. I only stayed one night as i migrated down to Brooklyn the next day to stay with my friend, Derek. (So maybe i wasnt on my own for very long after all!!)

In the morning, the sun was shining and New York was happy, which was the perfect excuse to spend the afternoon having a picnic in the park. Only interrupted by my need to go to the loo! But it was time for another party anyway, woo woo, so we put on our party faces and went to an amusement arcade/bar!! Interesting concept (and definitely one targeted at the boys!). It was sunday night too, i love sunday parties! New York rules!

Monday was not quite as sunny, which made my excursion for the day a slightly less than great choice - the beach! And by not as sunny, i mean bloody windy! But still, on the up side, i got to go to Long Island, and i have never been there before, so was all fun and games!

My last morning came around and i thought, what better way to spend it than... the Museum of Sex! Very interesting!!! My only mistake was going on my own, then having a couple of hours on a plane on my own, and only family waiting for me at the end of it too. You really should go to these kind of places with a partner...!!

And now i am back in Florida. Trying to make the most of my last week. Today was Mothers Day, and again - a BIG excuse for a party over here. It's not just happy mothers day to YOUR mum, its any mum! But whatever, i am getting used to all these paties! And why not?!

Since i need to keep the fun alive when i get back to England, i think there should be lots of parties... Fun and games!

    Only 1 week now........ :(

  • Still living it up, USA style

    7th May

So our coastal jaunts took us to the delightful little town of Wilmington, North Carolina, where i swiftly started chumping it up at the movie locations!! Wilmywood, (as it is affectionatly called in my book!) was the host of Dawson's Creek, woo woo! and is still the host for the (not-as-good-as-dawson's-rip-off) One Tree Hill (amoung other things). I managed to talk Dad into a morning on his own so i could stalk the streets by myself, and absorb the Dawson-ness!! I was quite excited to have a few hours on my own, which meant i could do some shopping, woo! But we only had a couple of days left before we hit the big shops of New York anyway!

Sightseeing commenced immediately upon arrival to New York, and we shot straight up the Rockefeller Centre to its new observation deck 'Top of the Rock'. Even though i have been up observation decks in New York before, the view is still totally amazing and u have gotta join the throngs snapping away! The theme continued in the evening when we went to a bar recommended by my friend. It was on the 16th floor of this building, in the roof garden, and the view at night was great - Chrysler and Empire State buildings, and thousands of 'fairy lights' that are New York. It was so blatantly obvious Dad and I were tourists though as everyone else (dressed in suits and smartness) was casually sipping their drinks chatting to their friends, and we could not stop checking out the view! Dweebs!

The next day, we joined the tourists again and walked across Brooklyn Bridge, just for the hell of it. It takes frippin' ages! Dad was glad he now had Brooklyn under his belt, and it was twice in one day for me, cos i sped through dinner with dad so that i could bog off and meet my friend (in Brooklyn) for a Cinco de Mayo party - seriously, they barely even need an excuse for a party in America, any vague cause for celebration and its 'get the beers in'. And i am so not complaining! Coronas and salsa all night but i steered well clear of the tequila, thank god!

I managed to get up the next morning (with only a small hangover!) for a museum tour AND shopping, as Dad was on his last-few-hours-mission of our tour, cos as 3 o'clock rolled up, it was time to wave him off on the bus to the airport. He was on his way back to the UK.

And then there was 1, and i was left all alone in a big city!!...
