- The Girls Next Door, also known as The Girls of the Playboy Mansion, is an American reality television series broadcast on the E! cable television network. The series was created by executive producer Kevin Burns and Hugh Hefner, founder and editor-in-chief of Playboy magazine.
The show revolves around the daily lives of the girlfriends of Hugh Hefner. During Seasons 1-5 the show featured Holly Madison, Bridget Marquardt, and Kendra Wilkinson, and the fifth season concluded with the three leaving the Playboy Mansion for various reasons. Beginning with the sixth season, the show will focus on Hefner's new girlfriends - the Shannon twins, and Crystal Harris as his number one girlfriend. The sixth season debuted on October 11, 2009.
The bow tie-wearing Playboy Bunny mascot is the icon for the show, appearing in its logo.

There's one rule at the Playboy Mansion: Always make sure Hugh Hefner has a fresh diaper on. No, wait, it's this: never bring boys into your room! Because both Karissa and Kristina Shannon violated this condition, the busty blondes have been ordered to move out of the iconic premises. "After a couple of weeks, Hef was getting a little bit upset about the boyfriends, so he wanted us to move out," Karissa confirmed this week. "We were not allowed to have boys in the house. That was the absolute number one rule: no boys allowed." Indeed, the Shannons have even been forced out of the Playboy House, where they were installed in January. Hef says the trio is still on good terms, just not naked terms: "They will now be friends, but they won't be defined as the girlfriends... They've been hanging out with a lot of the other Playmates and they see these girls travelling across the country to do promotion. They would like to be doing that, too." Or, in the case of Kendra Wilkinson, doing Justin Frye on video.

While fans of The Girls Next Door will undoubtedly miss Hugh Hefner's former trio of girlfriends, they might just enjoy the new batch of ladies. Holly Madison used to be No. 1 in the Playboy mogul's book, but she's now being replaced by Crystal Harris. Now, is that a good thing or not?
A recent interview of Holly's reveals that she thinks of Crystal as her "clone," but the latter spoke up and told OK! Magazine that she's not like her predecessor. The two may look alike given the blonde locks and that charming smile. Unfortunately, there's more to Crystal than what we think.
The new No. 1 of The Girls Next Door said to the publication, "Living here, there is no pressure to look a certain way. But it definitely inspires you just being around such beautiful girls." She's close to celebrating her 1-year anniversary of staying with Hef in the Playboy mansion, and things are looking great.
As for her resemblance to Holly Madison, the 23-year-old Harris exclaimed, "That is flattering because I wouldn't compare myself saying that someone looks like me. I just think it's flattering."
Well, Crystal's certainly taking on a job that Holly didn't accomplish: updating Hugh Hefner's Twitter page. Of course, he's 83 and spends little time on the computer. He doesn't even own a cell-phone. What else did we expect?
New Girl Next Door Kristina Shannon told the Los Angeles Times that it's Crystal who manages Hef's updates. "He writes them down, and Crystal tweets them," she revealed. Wow, Hef must have some power if he has his own Twitterer. Oh wait, for a second there I forgot that this was a multi-millionaire and his girlfriends (plural!) I was writing about.
To see more of Crystal Harris and Hef's new girls, catch the premiere of The Girls Next Door this Sunday on E!
