Girlfriend: You've just released your first single plus launched your own reality TV show as well, do you feel life has turned a little crazy?
Steph Macintosh: Very!!! It has really shocked me how much is involved on top of the actual recording process. I have already developed a greater appreciation for artists that have done it for the majority of their lives. "Auto-pilot" has got me through.
GF: A lot of Aussie actors on Neighbors and Home and Away have had a go at a singing career with mixed results, were you nervous to go along that path?
SM: While there have been a lot of musicians come from Neighbours no two have been the same. I'm hoping to bring a different style again and emulate the success that those before me have achieved.
GF: One musician who came from Neighbours is Jason Donavan, who also happens to be your half brother. Did his career or experiences influence you in any way?
SM: His experiences have enabled him to give me lots of invaluable advice.
GF: Tell us your opinions on your Neighbours character Sky Mangel. Would you make the choices Skye has?
SM: No probably not. We're very different. I wouldn't let myself get into her situations!
GF: Were you ever scared about the initial response or stereotype that people would associate with you, like you're the next Delta etc?
SM: I'm aware that some people will make that assumption but it doesn't really bother me or scare me.
GF: How long has your album been in the making?
SM: It has been a work in progress for 18 months but the actual recording took place in Jan-Feb this year.
GF: Does the thought of doing live performances scare or excite you?
SM: It completely excites me.
GF: Did you make a conscious effort to try and make an album that's got a distinct unique style?
SM: Definitely. My taste in music is quite versatile, so I was adamant about making the album that too. I'd like to think there's something on it for everyone!
GF: Who are your music inspirations?
SM: I don't really have one or two specifically. I'm inspired by hard working artists that keep holding my attention. A classic example would be Madonna, she's a true professional and always reinvents herself!
GF: Who do you listen to when you are getting ready to go out? Who do you listen to when you're feeling low?
SM: When I'm going out it's obviously music that is pumping! Maybe a bit of "Black eyed peas"! They're always exciting and get me going! Feeling low, perhaps Jeff Buckley!! He tends to set that mood.
GF: Do you prefer acting or singing?
SM: They're both very different mediums and I love both so much, but maybe singing because it can be more personal.
GF: Your music video for Mistake is really cool. Did you really hand pick Ryan Carnes from Desperate Housewives to star in it?
SM: I'm a huge desperates fan and we looked him up on the net and to my luck got him!
GF: How long did the clip take to shoot?
SM: A very tiring, but exciting 16 hours!!
GF: You've got your own reality TV series airing soon on Ten too about the making of your album. Who's idea was it to make it?
SM: A genius named Tom Nichols who is the co writer and executive producer of the album. He came up with the concept for me before Ashlee Simpson had hers out!!
GF: Did you feel a bit like Jessica Simpson having the camera in your face all the time?
SM: Perhaps more like Ashlee. This isn't Newlyweds!!
GF: Do you think people are going to be surprised or have changed opinions of you when they watch the show?
SM: I think people are always going to be opinionated, which their entitled to of course. Maybe a little surprised, as I'm no longer hiding behind a character anymore. They'll start seeing me for me.
GF: How did your boyfriend and family handle being in the show?
SM: They're very supportive, but naturally it's not their idea of a picnic!
GF: Were there parts of filming the show that you didn't like?
SM: Of course!! But that's life and at the end of the
