  • Daniel Carter might move to Europe!

Star All Black first-five Dan Carter says he is weighing up a move to the UK as he prepares to enter the final year of his present contract with the NZRU.

Carter, who is in England, overnight dropped a hint that he is considering playing careers options in England - a move which would see him become one of the highest paid players in the world.

His current contract with the NZRU ceases at the end of the 2009 season.

And while the NZRU will make a big push to retain his services, Carter says the UK is a possibility.

"I really enjoy playing over here (England) - there are great crowds and great people," Carter told Sky Sports News.

"It's something I'm going to have to have a good think about as I consider where I want my career to head, but it's definitely on the cards for the future.

"I have got one year left and until then I will be making a decision on where I want my career to head."

Several of Carter's All Black team-mates at the World Cup have already lead the post-season exodus to Europe - including Luke McAlister, Aaron Mauger, Carl Hayman, Byron Kelleher, Chris Jack and Anton Oliver.

And if Carter was to head off-shore, it could again raise the debate over whether the NZRU should ease their policy of banning overseas-based players from All Black selection.

Carter's comments about a possible shift off-shore are vastly different from what he said the day after the All Blacks shock World Cup exit to France in the quarterfinal in Cardiff.

At the side's farewell media session, he stated he wanted to stay in New Zealand for the 2011 World Cup.

"I'm only 25 and hopefully have a few years left in the black jersey," he said at the time.

"It's a good chance to sit down and plan the next few years and put my career exactly where I want it to go. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

"This black jersey means more to me than anything else. I'm keen to hang around and make the most of these next few years."

Carter has played 44 tests for the All Blacks since making his debut in 2003.

In 2005 he was voted the IRB's player of the year, an award which followed his sensational form in the All Blacks' 3-0 series win over the British Lions.

  • World Cup Info!

    Breaking News!

Another lock has thrown a slight injury scare into the All Blacks camp at the Rugby World Cup in France.

Chris Jack came off worst in a collision with Sitiveni Sivivatu during a training run in Marseille this morning and left the field with ice on his shoulder.

With Keith Robinson and Reuben Thorne still sidelined and unable to train with the team, the All Blacks can ill afford to lose another second rower. Robinson still looked ginger on his injured calf while Thorne did little more than a gentle push on a scrum machine.
The team to play portugal will be named late tonight, Ali Williams will play but chris may not weather he is fit.

One of those likely to get a start is prop Greg Somerville, who will play his first test in a year after rupturing his Achilles tendon during the 2006 Tri Nations. Somerville says it was a relief just to make it to France but now he is itching to get on the field. He says has has done as much as he can to be ready without actually playing and is confident he is up to the challenge.

Meanwhile, Somerville is adamant the side will cope without forwards coach Steve Hansen. Hansen has returned to New Zealand to be with his sick mum but Somerville who will return to the side against Portugal this weekend, says they have plenty of people who can take charge.

Somerville says Mike Cron and Brian Lochore will probably organise

    Thanks
