é uma manifestacao da cultura baiana, que foi criada em 1928 por Manoel Dos Reis Machado(MESTRE BIMBA). Ele utilizou os seus conhecimentos da Capoeira Angola e do Batuque. A capoeira Angola é uma manifestacao primitiva que nasceu da necessidade de libertacao de um povo escravizado, oprimido, sofrido, e revoltado. Podemos considera-la a mae da Capoeira Regional. O Batuque, é uma luta braba, violenta, onde o objetivo era jogar o adversário no chao usando apenas. MESTRE BIMBA DISSE : EM 1928 EU CRIEI, COMPLETA, A REGIONAL, QUE É BO BATUQUE MISTURADO COM A ANGOLA, COM MAIS GOLPES, UMA VERDADEIRA LUTA, BOA PARA O FÍSICO E PARA A MENTE.
