I went sky diving and it was awesome!!!!!

Guten tag! Wei geht's? This blog is introduced to you in German because, wait for it . . . if I can get the time off work, I am going to Austria for Christmas!!!

Why the extravagant splurge on a trip to Europe, when you are going to be over there in 1/2 a years time?? Well my contract with Lion-Nathan has been extended, I have the money and I miss my big sister Annaliese, who I am going to see.

I haven't done any soul searching this week, so don't have any self discovery to share with you. Well I do have something but I don't want to talk about it yet, till I have sussed it out. Okay, you twisted my arm. It's to do with the fact that I think I am slightly ADD and OCD. There I said but I will try to explain it more in the coming weeks.

Misinformation. Last Wednesday when I was at the library using the internet, I over heard a conversation about how the world was going to end that night. One guy was telling his mate about the fact that the world might be sucked into a black hole when the scientists at CERN turned on their particle accelorator (he didn't mention CERN or particle accelorator (he probably couldn't prenounce the words)). When his friend enquired further he said "yeah, they are doing this experiment in Texas, where they are trying to create a new Earth, a black hole could be created, which would destroy the Earth".!! I did a double take and was like WHAT. First of all the experiment is being done on the border of France and Switerland and secondly the experient is to do with finding out about what happened during the big bang. I was very close to correcting them but figured they probably don't know where France or Switzerland are, let alone have an inkling to what the big bang is. I thought to myself you misguided fools, have a little faith in the scientist's doing their job. I was saddened to learn the next day that someone in India commit suicide bacause they thought we were all doomed.

Now this issue is quite close to my heart, because being of a science back ground I am aware of technologies which people are afraid of. Take genetic engineering for example, I am all for it. I remember getting stopped by a green peace lady who was telling me babies heads become deformed when they eat GE food. I was like are you for real. First, do you have any evidence to back that up and second, no wonder people are against it when you are feeding them crap like that! For the record NZ has a robust system that would monitor any GE activity in our country, so there is really nothing to be afraid of. If you against GE please tell me your concerns below, I would be interested to know what other peoples opinions are.

On a lighter note. When you first start listening to a song, do you ever just add in a few words when you don't know the correct ones?? Well I do it all the time. The latest song I have done it to is the new one by MGMT, my version is as follows "shock me like an electric eel" when it should be "shock me like an electric field". Then there was that fall out boy song, my version "this aint a scene it’s a dead horse race", how it really goes "this aint a scene it’s a (god (but this was cut out)) damn arms race". Then there was "not many infiny (infinity said really fast)" by Scribe, but as we all know it went "not many if any". Ha ha, I almost like my new lyrics better that the original ones. Any ways, I'm sure you have done it too (especially you Annaliese), so leave you examples in the comments below to.

I'm sure there was something else I wanted to write about (thinks for abit). Nope can't remember it.

Regarding patience, and crowds of people. I have little patience for people that walk slow, and its even worse when you try and pass them, but some obstacle gets in your way. A sandwich board, or post box maybe. I have family guy moments: where I envision myself ankle tapping them, then walking over them as they face plant on the ground. The worst situation arises when you have four or five teenage girls walking side by side and there is no room to pass them. As you my already know, I'm not really a fan of the teenage species. So these combination of events makes for one pissed off walker. And from now on I solemnly swear to charge through these barrackades, with the same inconsiderate gusto that they are put up. Oh and the people that stop in the middle of a walk way and block access deserve a pissed off mention as well. Think people that block the enterance to an esculator or stair way, and retards without a clue standing around doing nothing in night clubs. If you have ever been clubbing with me, will note that I am a trail blazer and just charge through the riff-raff without a care in the world. And if I'm not in the way I am probably behind you, pushing you through the crowd, shrillly saying "be assertive!".

On the weekend just gone, I went for another drive north, only an hour an a halves drive this time, to the monastic town of New Norcia, home of the Benedictine monks. It is the only one out of three planned for WA that had any success. What happened to the other two? Well the mission that was sent north became shipwrecked with only one survivour. The other mission that was to be set up in the south, well they got a better offer. Maldives anyone? I drove into town at about 11:05 and drove out again at about 11:06. For some reason I thought there would be more to it. But it is really just the buildings of the monastary and the colleges that once operated back in its hey day.

Having arrived just after the first town tour left, I decided to book the afternoon tour at 1:30pm and headed into the museum and art gallery to look around. After gleaning as much history as I could be bothered to read I headed to the hotel for a feed, before returning to the gift shop to pick out some souvenirs. Unfortunately for me and everyone else in my family we seem to have a strange tradition of bring back gifts for everyone else (and with 8 or 9 peps to buy for, it doesn't come cheap). I was politely reminded of this fact from a letter I received from my little sister. The main body of the letter was all about the things she got from Nathan when he returned from the Isle of Man, then by Luke when he returned from Melbourne, so the pressures on (Annaliese you better start buying now!).

I was joined by 50 other people outside the museum at 1:30 for the beginning of the tour. We were told all about the history of the place: how it begun, important people, the buildings and about the benedictine way of life. All of which I found very interesting. But being mindfull of the reader (who probably does't share the same interests as me), I wont get into the nitty-gritty details of it all. It did feel eerily quite though, I guess it would be hard for the place not to be, considering there are only nine monks ramaining and durings its height, housed up to 80. So after the two hour tour I had seen some great examples of; arcitecture, painting and wood work, and was intrigued by the fact that the town had been built to the lay out of the cross.

Oh and for the record, I avoided being an impatient tourist by being at the front of the pack the whole time. No-one to slow me down (life was good).
