South Africa 2009
So i've been in South Africa for almost 2 weeks now, the time has gone so quickly. They now have a caracal, 2 jackals and a meerkat at Cheetah Outreach. last years cubs have gone but we now have 2 8 month old male cheetah cubs. Young cubs are due end of May. I've been sightseeing in Cape Town area, went to signal hill, 2 oceans aquarium and a boat ride to see cape fur seals. Plan to do a wine tour, township tour and horse riding in the next few weeks. Living with 5 people at the moment, 1 girl from the UK, 1 from New zeland and 3 people from Holland. We went out last saturday to Moyo, an african style buffet was brilliant. Also had a posh meal in cape town that only cost 17 pounds. ( no pound sign on my keyboard). had a braii at one of the bosses houses last night. Weather has been pretty good, just abit of rain though May is that start of the rainy season. its so good to see all my friends from last year and see all the cats again, i'd missed them loads.

Africa
So thats me been in Africa for 2 weeks now, what an amazing culture. I'm really enjoying my time at cheetah outreach, there is 12 cheetah and one serval. I'm liiving in a wooden hut, with 4 other girls and we have room for one other volunteer. there is cubs in a room connected to the kitchen. it rained the first week and parts of cape town where flooded. i've been on a one day safari at a place called fairy glen which was approx 2 hours from cape town. On tuesday some of us are going shark cage diving. before i leave a hope to visit table mountain and a snake park. its my 20th on friday. some of the local people at work are really nice. i'll have a huge photo update when i get back. My favourite cheetah is x-ray she is a king cheetah. so far i've been feeding the anatolian shepherd dogs and taking guests in for cheetah encounters. yesterday i went on my first cheetah poo run and can spend time with x-ray unsupervised now. time is going really quickly here. 2 weeks gone already. missing home and certain people, but i'm so glad i finally made it to Africa, its inspired me to do so much more, would really like to come back summer 2010 as a cub volunteer and will pursue other volunteer work in the Uk such as the highland wildlife park and a big cat centre in Kent.0 Comments 262 weeks

aww sounds really good hope u manage to getback next year sounds like u really love it there. yeh hoping to get a job soon just to pay my way at home and pay for nething hercs needs hopefully start getin lessons again this summer. i want to get another lab there just lovely friendly dogs so happy all the time. still need to convince my dad but i think hes coming round lol. xxx

hey thanks i'm not really bothered any more lol. did think about vet nursing but i just want a break from studying for a while gonna get a job for a while see how that works out. all the animals are good thinking about gettin a new puppy some company for buddy. need to get hercs teeth done but thats bout it. how things in Africa? yeh would be good to meet up let me know when your back and we can arrange something. love claire xxxx
