Robson and Jerome
A Brief History
Ah, Robson and Jerome what a great team!

Those guys didn’t muck about. They were a double act no one could mess with! They had it all. Those two could act, and sing, they also seemed to be the kind of guys who would be a great laugh down at a church fete.
The girls loved them for their unorthodox good looks: Robson, if you were into tiny slightly balding geordies, Jerome, if you liked ‘em big with an oddly shaped flat nose!
The fellas won our hearts with their touching performances it ITV’s imaginatively named show about soldiers: Soldier Solider. One memorable moment involved our heroes’s performing their own version of the hit song Unchained Melody. Middle aged women across the UK wept with joy, wiping their eyes on the sleeves of their shabby BHS cardigans.
This sparked a nationwide hunger for more, resulting in a release of yet another cover version of the said track. And so Robson & Jerome were borne!
More hits followed, notably Saturday Night At The Movies, and the classic Up On The Roof.
Their fame grew, records flew from the shelves, and their reputation spread. One rumour even suggested that, after hearing their seminal hit Up On The Roof, Frank Sinatra was awe struck and it brought about a change in him, eventually it resulted in his death!

So what happened to these charming bozos?

Well, Robson "the ladies love" Green went on to be a staple of top ITV dramas like Wire In The Blood. In the show Robson plays an eccentric psychological profiler helping the police to catch crazed killers.
He’s wacky you know, he gives great performances where he gets into the mind of the killer to solve the murder:
"I’m sat in the chair… I’m pulling up my socks… sat in the chair… pull up the socks… sat in the chair, pulling up socks… sat in the chair pulling up my socks, sat in the chair pulling up my socks, chair, socks, chair, socks, CHAIR, SOCKS! It was Bernard! He killed them, lets go!"
Phew, it’s hot stuff all right!

And that leaves Jerome.
Poor old Jerome, he only ever got the slow groupies who weren’t nimble enough to catch Robson (he was well known for leading a big chase around the backstage of the gigs before selecting only the fastest groupie for his needs). Big lumbering Jerome, with that ginormous oddly shaped honker, what happened to him then?

"Jerome was on a mission to see a new friend - Freddie the dolphin."

What about work? Ah, now there’s a question.
There was a brief spell in Badger!
Badger was a show about a "wildlife liaison officer" called, yes you’ve guessed it, Badger!

So after that, what could a big, funny looking actor with a string of hit records and a sack of successful TV shows behind him do next…?

"A big, funny looking actor who can sing… Big actor… Funny looking… Can sing… Big, funny looking, singing… BIG FUNNY LOOKING ACTOR and SINGING!" Cried Robson one night, his tiny 3ft frame springing from the armchair.
"I’ve got it! There is a musical all about the life of Tommy Cooper in the pipeline! Who better to pay him?!"

"I don’t believe it, you’re right!" Said Shirley, Jerome’s agent.

And so there it was, Jerome had the perfect new job!
