About Me

Me, Myself, and I
FALLING ELEVATOR

Falling Elevator are a studio based band which began in 2000 with the start of their Cold War Child album in the then 16 track Culmhead Studio (now 24 track). Originally called CULM3 after being seen as the third version on the band Culm and its evolution. Later changed to Falling Elevator because it became clear that the sound and direction of the project bore little in common with Culm’s sound and direction.

The band are really just two main individuals, Rob Swain and Neil Eckhart and a collection of collaborators who help out with set pieces as and when their help is needed (see cold war child page on this site). Most of the music is created by Rob and Neil themselves though, with Rob producing the majority of the guitar work and Neil the majority of the bass and piano work.

The band’s direction has always been focused on a shared passion for 1970’s progressive rock of the more emotionally expressive and less muso-obsessive kind like Floyd and Gene
Music
