One man is dead and five people were injured after an overnight shooting at a downtown bar.

The victim has been identified as Darryl D. Thompkins, a 19 year old resident of Grand Rapids.

A grief stricken Sharkita Thrash cried out on the front porch of the Thompkins home Monday afternoon, “Why him? Why? He didn't deserve this."

Thrash will have to raise her two year old without his father. Nineteen year old Darryl Thompkins was shot outside the Brick House Bar, 245 N. Division, shortly after midnight on Monday.
“It was so hard to get out because there was only one exit, " said Thrash.

According to Thrash a fight started inside, and her mind was racing as she tried to get out along with a chaotic crowd.

"I thought that I was going to die, that I wasn't going to live, not knowing that my son's father is already dead."

Evidence points to multiple shooters who fired outside the bar.
