a bit about our very succesful season x
Forfar Farmington's U13 side, Real Farmington, celebrated their hugely successful 2009 season in the clubhouse at the Market Muir last Friday night with the trophies being presented by Kevin Mackie of Mackie Motors.
Kevin generously stepped in to provide transport when the girls trip to Manchester in the summer was threatened by a last minute hitch. Real retained the East region U13 league and cup double in 2009 without a losing a single match; their only defeat at their own level was by Motherwell Girls in the Scottish Cup semi-final at Stirling. In July, the girls entered the prestigious Umbro Tournament in Manchester and playing up a level against U15 sides, came away as runners-up. Tournaments at their own level were won in Drumchapel and Edinburgh as well as triumphing in the Forfar Festival event in the summer. An incredible total of 9 of the girls were selected for SFA regional squads and national training camps, with Chloe Dunn representing her country at schoolgirl level. The girls now move up to U15 and eleven a side for the coming 2010 season with their management team of Paul White, Alastair Donald, David Dickson, Gogs McFarlane and Drew Brannan certain they will cope with the new challenge.
The pictures show the squad with Kevin Mackie and the four main award winners : Player of the year, Katy Dickson; Players player, Dana Soutar; Most improved player, Darcie Easton and Clubwomen, Emily Reid. (picture in 2010 album x)

match reports
Real Farmington 7 versus Dundee United A 2
In what was effectively the league decider, these two closely matched teams went head to head with winner takes all. Real have always shaded the spoils in the past but on this occasion they ran out clear victors.
Real opened the scoring after dominating the early exchanges, Murron White stole from the feet of the United defence and found space to strike home from the edge of the box. Real continued to threaten the visitors and they doubled the advantage when Dana McFarlane collected a Dunn throw in; a scramble ensued as United desperately tried to clear but McFarlane was too strong for them and managed to tuck home her effort at the second time of asking. United were rocking and only some excellent goal keeping kept them the game.
Disaster struck the home defence mid way through the first half when an innocuous looking shot was badly deflected and this managed to beat Soutar in the home goal who could do nothing to avert it from happening. This should have given United the lift to go on a make the game closer, however Real had other ideas and simply stepped up a gear. The lead was stretched when Donald collected from defence and played a nice ball to Dunn who broke past the last defender with sublime ease and hammered home.
Emily Reid then had a couple of chances but was thwarted by last ditch tackling, she got her goal though after excellent passing between Brannan and McFarlane carved open the away defence and Reid coolly slotted home goal number four shortly before halfime.
The second half continued in a similar fashion but United are battlers and they pulled a goal back from a throw in that broke kindly for them in the box. Had United scored next then the game may have turned perhaps but as usual the trademark determination of this Forfar team shone through again and literally seconds later Dickson and White carved an opening for Dunn who side stepped her marker and buried her strike in the net.
The match was over as contest now and Real continued to turn the screw, an excellent square ball from Dunn found Murron White in acres of space, she drove forward and scored a great goal from an angled strike from the edge of the area. Real were now in easy street and stroking the ball around beautifully, the best goal of the game came last as Dunn controlled and awkward ball and lifted over the last defender’s head and as the ball came down she headed it over the keeper into the net.
After this game there were two serious injuries, with Dana Mcfarlane out for 6 weeks with damage to a ligament and Murron White our for longer with an fractured growth plate (ankle)0 Comments 204 weeks
