- Franz Ferdinand are a World Dominating scottish band from Glasgow. None of them were actually born there but that is the place that the fourtet formed their wobbly friendship and bloody amazing partnership creating mind blowing new age music 'for girls to dance to'. The Band consists of Alexander Paul Kapranos Huntley (Lead vocals and guitar), Nicholas McCarthy (vocals, guitar and keyboard), Robert Hardy (Bass Guitar) and last but no means least the man with the gap in his teeth, keeping the beat Paul Thomson (Drums).Franz Ferdinand's self titled debut album shot straight to number one selling over 3 million copies worldwide. This got them extremely huge in Japan where the 'Franz Followers' there have re-named the member that they are most fond of (Robert Hardy) Bobu-san which translates as Mr or Sir Bob. Their current album (album number 2) 'You Could Have It So Much Better' also got to number one in many countries around europe but hasnt has the same amount of press and attension.!

Franz Ferdinand to take a break
Franz Ferdinand revealed that they will be taking a long break before starting work on their third album.
The band came to what frontman Alex Kapranos called "the climax of everything that's happened in the last few years" with their triumphant headlining sets at last week's Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds festivals. And now they want to take a step back before working on the follow-up to 2005's 'You Could Have It So Much Better'.
Kapranos explained: "It's been pretty continuous from touring to recording the first album (2004's 'Franz Ferdinand') to touring to recording the second album to touring. The Carling Weekend felt like the summing-up of everything we've done over the last couple of years."
He added: "We are going to have a little bit of a break. For me, taking a break means being able to write whenever I feel like it. It also means socialising, hanging out with my pals, going to gigs, going out and having a few drinks. Just taking all the stuff from life which inspires you."
Guitarist Nick McCarthy added: "As a band, we will be away a while. It's going to be months before we even start rehearsing again."
As previously reported, McCarthy is working with his Box Codax group during the break.

Quite- when's the new album. They don't get much do they? Take away the usual 'do my quiz' bunch and there's all but few... I wouldn't advise you to do mine, no-one gets over 50%.
