I just returned from 5 days of hurricane relief work in the Oceans Springs & Biloxi, Mississippi areas. We had a really good time, despite the weather. We assisted on homes and worked on a Quickly built kingdom hall Friday-Sunday. The hall was gorgeous, and the friends were overjoyed to have their hall back. Though everything around the hall was in devastation, still a shambles. The local friends and workers were in great spirits. I do have to say, I enjoy working on the homes more so than the Quickbuilds. The love you feel is immense either way though. I've made such good friends, I highly recommend any who can go down to help to do it. You are so encouraged after. The electrical crew I worked on Thursday was actually all from near Albany, NY. They were wonderful. We stripped out the all the old electrical from the house (it had been flooded about 8 feet up), did the rough-in for the electrical work basically. I am going to try to send out some CD's of a slide show a sister is making after more work is done. Many good experiences that I'll try to share in the coming weeks. Friday night I went to a dinner seminar on "Why Garden in the Fall?" Steven Bender, a reputable garden writer, was the guest of honor and speaker. I learned tons and spent too much on my new purchases for going into the next season.
