- This is not Avril Lavigne, just her fanclub.
Avril Lavigne was born in Belleville and raised in Napanee, both in Ontario, Canada. She was signed to Arista Records when she was 16, after dropping out of high school, rejecting another major record deal and then moving to Los Angeles. Her only belief was to "be herself", rather different from what you would normally see with other female solo artists. Along with her debut album "Let Go", came nicknames such as "Skater Girl" and "Britney Slayer" which she rather disliked, but, still carrying on with her music, she decided that "Under My Skin", an album with more of an edge, was to be the next. Then came the third album, "The Best Damn Thing" after she married Deryck Whibley of Sum 41. As for her acting career, she has starred in The Flock, Fast Food Nation and Over the Hedge as an animated voice, but will carry on making her inspiring music as usual.

- How well do you know Avril Lavigne? 159 Taken
Just before The Best Damn Tour, Canon Canada made a partnership deal with Avril, who took loads of pictures and videos while she was on her tour. Alongside with that, Avril filmed two commercials (which you can see on our flashbox) for Canon Canada. At the press conference, Avril says how she found filming her first ever commercial was! "It was the first commercial I've ever shot so it was very cool, very similar to shooting music videos," she says,"The ad for the ELPH was really fun because it was me on a treasure hunt with a pink treasure box" .She also mentions why she loves digital cameras, mainly because you can delete the bad photos! Although we all know there is never a bad photo of Avril!

You can now head to www.AvrilLavigne.com to see a snippet of Avril's performance of "Sk8er Boi" from "The Best Damn Tour: Live in Toronto DVD" which you can buy at your local music store on 9th September.
Meanwhile, The Best Damn Tour is well under way, with only the Asian dates to go before the year-long world tour promoting "The Best Damn Thing" sadly comes to a close.
Avril has been having some trouble lately, though, because Malaysian officials have claimed that Avril's concerts are too 'sexy' to perform in Kuala Lumpur on 29th August. Malaysia is a fairly strict Islamic country with high morals, so when Western artists go over there it is crucial that they respect the country's culture. The Malaysian officials say that it is very important that their younger population are not persuaded to be provocative; all performers must wear clothes without obscene or drug-related images and be covered from the chest to the knees. They must also refrain from jumping, shouting, hugging and kissing on stage.
Last year, R&B singer Beyonce moved her show from Malaysia to Indonesia, and Christina Aguilera skipped the country on an Asian tour after a controversy erupted over the dress code.
However, Avril's manager, Terry McBride has confirmed that she will be performing there. "Avril respects their culture, and wants to turn up to see her fans in Malaysia. We're going ahead with the concert."
