Ravens steal the points

Old Parish was packed out yesterday with a capacity crowd for the Boxing Day Derby between Bridgend and Maesteg.0 Replies 291 weeks
Gareth David kicked a penalty early on and Maesteg also kicked one late in the 1st half. The fist half had just under 10 minutes injury time due to second row Tom Evans being stretchered off for precautionary reasons.
Second half, nothing much generated till half way though when Measteg broke the line and Maestegs winger had Gareth David to beat so he chipped but David tokk him out. Gareth David was sinbinned and throughout the ten minutes without him Bridgend defended to top tandard on their own goal line and held the ball up over the line about three times.
David returned from the bin and had to defend for 2 minutes more but Bridgend stole and had a drop out 22 which David took quickly and the Measteg fullback scuffed a kick. Bridgend won their own lineout and spread across the line to Bombay who broke the line. Bridge earnd a penalty. Gareth David was about to kick for goal and noticed the Parish offguard and quick tapped and he dived in the corner to secure a Bridgend Ravens victory. Maesteg came away with a losing bonus point -
Bryncethin 0-61 Bridgend (Konica Cup)

Bridgend Ravens displayed an array on attacking talent by destroying local rivals Bryncethin in the Konica minolta cup.0 Replies 293 weeks
The Ravens who made it to the semi finals of the cup last season, before losing to Cardiff at Sardis Road, led early on through a try from former Bonymaen centre Paul Smith. The Bryncethin pack were determined to get themselves back into the match but struggled against rookie hooker Scott Baldwin and former Llanelli flanker Ioan Cunningham.
The conditions were virtually unplayable and the wind stopped Matthew Jones from adding to his 12 points he scored against Bedwas in the last Ravens game, over a month ago.
David Bishop completed a sensational hatrick just after half time and new boy Phil Price finished with a brace.
The Ravens will gain plenty of confidence from this win, hopefully a stepping stone of things to come.
