- Me, Myself, and I
- Grey's Anatomy is a dramatic story about a group of new surgical interns fighting it out and figuring it out in one of the country's most competitive residency programs. The group of five all battle the job, each other and life on a daily basis. Despite the cut-throat atmosphere and relentless stress the five manage to form friendships and grow with each other. They are all young, sexually charged and motivated. . .leading to a deep and passionate story.
Despite this thread of similarity, all five interns are unique. Meredith, a quietly ambitious doctor is the daughter of a famous surgeon. She hides the fact that her mother is ailing from Alzhimer's and it eats her up. Christina is the definition of 'motivated' and 'mean', constantly vying for the top spot amonst the group. Isobel a self-conscious girl from a small town grew up poor and put herself through med school with her modeling, which becomes a source of embarrasment. George is the goofy guy next door who desperately wants the attention of the girls but is hopelessly awkward in their presence. Alex, although handsom, is as arrogant as they come and gives new meaning to the phrase 'God Complex'.
The team of doctors who 'mentors' this group is just as diverse and troublesome. Dr. Derek Shepherd is the hospital's new super-star surgeon. He soon finds out that a one-night stand, Meredith, is one of the hospital's new interns. Despite the hospital's policy he decides to continue his relationship with Meredith. Shepherd's success threatens Dr. Preston Burke, who views the hotshot doctor as an obstacle in his climb to the top of the hospital. Burke is an amazing surgeon that seems to thrive on this conflict. He's ruthless with the new doctors but in the end wants to help them. The interns get a good dose of tough love from their daily drill-master, Dr. Miranda Bailey the senior resident, AKA "the Nazi." She has a love for junk food and for snapping at interns. All the doctors report to the chief of surgery, Dr. Richard Webber who has cautioned the interns that some won't make the cut in his program. At times, he has a hard time treating Meredith as 'another intern' considering he knew her as her mother's daughter, a world renowned surgeon.

DEREK: "Where is she?"
RICHARD: "You had to be the cowboy..."
DEREK: "Where is she?!"
ADDISON: "Derek! Thank God, you're alive."
ADELE: "That is not the she he was asking for."
MIRANDA: "This is our son... William George Bailey-Jones."
MEREDITH: "Okay -- you know when you don't need to be made fun of? Like when you have your hand inside a body that's got a bomb in it and a stranger is Velcro-ing a flak jacket to your boobs."
OLIVIA: "Change your own bedpans, Stevens!"
IZZIE: "Yeah, well enjoy your syphilis, Olivia."
DEREK: "I was being nice to her."
DEREK: "I can be nice to her without being-"
CRISTINA: "McDreamy, I know."
DEREK: "Yes, compassion, It's an emotion. Have you ever heard of it?"
CRISTINA: "Have you? She's barely back on her feet and you've got her calling you McDreamy again. You know, I was just telling the patient the truth. You might want to try it sometime."
GEORGE: "Why is she still here?"
NURSE: "Because I am not a bouncer, and this is not a nightclub."
MEREDITH: "What are you doing here?"
DEREK: "There is a clinical trial to slow the progression of early onset Alzheimer's."
MEREDITH: "Okay. Me, you can screw with. My mother? No. Not acceptable."
IZZIE: [to Alex] "We're all pulling for you."
GEORGE: "We are?"
MEREDITH: [narrating] "The thing people forget is how good it can feel when you finally set secrets free. Whether good or bad, at least they're out in the open, like it or not. And once your secrets are out in the open, you don't have to hide behind them anymore. The problem with secrets is even when you think you're in control, you're not."
DEREK: "Somewhere out there is a steak with your name on it, and maybe a bottle of wine."
MEREDITH: "This is why I keep you around."
DEREK: "Maybe we should, you know, make some rules."
MEREDITH: "We should."
DEREK: "Just for the record... I like the glow-in-the-dark ones."
MEREDITH: [laughs] "I bet you do."
DEREK: "Can you keep a secret?"
MEREDITH: "Better than you think."
CRISTINA: "Hey, Syph-boy!"
GEORGE: "You told her?"
IZZIE: "Just Cristina."
ALEX: [smirks] "Syph-boy. It's got a nice ring to it. Kind of like Super-boy, only diseased."
MEREDITH: "I want facts, and until I get them, my pants are staying on."
DEREK: "Or you could just roll with it, be flexible. See what happens."
MEREDITH: "I'm not flexible."
DEREK: [laughs] "Now there I disagree... We'll find these things out. That's the fun part, you know? That's the gravy."
MEREDITH: "You know when you were a little kid and you believed in fairy tales? That fantasy of what your life would be -- white dress, prince charming who’d carry you away to a castle on a hill. You’d lie in your bed at night and close your eyes and you had complete and utter faith. Santa clause, the tooth fairy, prince charming -- they were so close you could taste them. But eventually you grow up and one day you open your eyes and the fairy tale disappears. Most people turn to the things and people they can trust. But the thing is, it’s hard to let go of that fairy tale entirely because almost everyone has that smallest bit of hope and faith that one day they would open their eyes and it would all come true."
MEREDITH: "Dr. Shepherd? I'm sorry I called you a jackass."
DEREK: [pauses] "You didn't."
MEREDITH: "Actually I did... twice."
CRISTINA: "If I stab this fork into his thigh, will I get in trouble?"
MEREDITH: "Not if you make it look like an accident."
CRISTINA: "Oh, please, a hot doctor wants to make you open up and say ah. It’s the American dream, stop whining about it."
MEREDITH: "No, there's no good that can come from sleeping with your boss."
MEREDITH: [sees Derek] "Crap.
MEREDITH: "Hi! I'm late."
DEREK: "You're avoiding me."
MEREDITH: "Yes, but also late."
MEREDITH: [narrating] "Responsibility. It really does suck. Unfortunately, once you get past th
