Church Hill Silver Band has been blessing the ears of any fortunate souls
with music since the time of wee cavemen. The band is built up of musicians from Church Hill and surrounding areas, there is currently 45 members (approx.)
We are being conducted by the patient David Fyffe and his guidance has lead us to many of successful parades!
Some may say that all we do is talk about cows and drink! THAT IS NOT TRUE! well......we do enjoy the odd snifter of cherry at christmas and do talk about cattle.....what was i saying again?? nevermind! i will leave you with a memorable phrase...
CHURCH HILL SILVER - PROUD TO BE LOUD!

The Poem - Part 1 - The 'Youthful Friendly' version
Ahem.....
Once upon a time in a village far away
there played a band so happy and gay
from subtle solo's to belching basses
came foreign trips with broken cases
Along came John Richardson with his thoughts and dreams
and then came alan ferguson and his airing creams
Cool and soothing like a morinings' dew
but when friction occurs, boyso, anythin' will do
From Gin to Vodka, cornflakes to weetabix
for all your daily needs come to room 606
Hectic parades such as the 17th May
came the 'Rowdy' lock in's with Mr. Smirnoff and Mrs Bombey
With the gentle marching or should i say jogging of excitable john
came alfie's roar of LEFT, QUICK.........COME ON
Such craic theres been, such fun we've had
but honestly, i think we put the hotel stone mad
Norway has came and unfortunately has gone
and theres one man to thank and thats our john
He's made this trip and unforgettable sega
and one things for sure.....
Londons going to be MEGA

THE KESTREL
Today (Thursday) the mighty ensemble (not sayin that the rest of the band aint mighty, cause they are) took out on an epic voyage up the trecherous lough erne, thats right, the lough erne...our 'vessel' for today the was the brutal 1.2 perkins engine, M.V Kestrel Water Bus (unfortately the yellow submarine was booked). Anywhoo, myself and Andrew, began this crusade at the reading room in Portora, we told the one and only Mr.Downey we had to go. So we put on the uniform, loaded into the mighty discovery and headed to pick up Laura.....but not before going to see the wee ducks and killer Swans at the Round O (no offense your majesty).
As all the ensemble members gathered, we were missing one key element...our bass player, however with a roar and a rev, he came flying around the corner (much to the fear of a few ducks, who thought they were on their last quack)
As we set sail up the lough, we played some pieces, had a wee chat and watched a man catch music with his nose (ask Laura). We stopped at Devenish Island to let out the magistrates, yes, magistrates, i no, church hill are very high up in the social status....
After a few drinkey poos and a good chat about sticks and women and other profound, deep, meaning full things we beat on back down the lough
As we passed the kip, known to many as Portora, we played abide with me which would have brought a tear to a stone.
All in all the day went mighty....we safely cruised to and from Devenish Island and thanks to John Richardson, had a very eventful and enjoyable day out.
And without a doubt in the world he is a very fine magician....i mean musician
