Vandals wrecked a children's play park by daubing it in foot-high graffiti tags.
The most prolific tag scrawled on the equipment at the area off Shelly Road, Colchester, spelt out the P.C.C
Broken glass and empty alcohol bottles were also left strewn around the enclosed area, which is a favourite with parents with young children who live nearby.
The safety asphalt flooring and the wall of a house were also covered in the red lettering which appeared late Wednesday night.
Police community support officers are now busy gathering intelligence about the vandalism, leafleting locals asking for information.
