Well I know I have not written one since Christmas well not a proper one, well not one for a very long time.

My festive period was a bit of a disaster workwise, some of you may know I do out of hours support for my employer which happens to be a financial instauration. Following a few problems in early December, I arrived one Monday afternoon to discover that until New Year that I was given loads of extra oncall shifts in addition to my booked Christmas oncall shift more or less most nights until New Year. And guess what I received the grand total of zero calls for the whole period I was officially oncall and guess what happened on my night off, called in at 1am before I went to bed and went home at 8am, as my mum retired that morning I never got to bed until 11am.

This had its advantages however; it financed a mini break after New Year to Stockholm and Berlin. Stockholm is an old favourite of mine especially the nightlife, also my cheap deal on Expedia saw me staying at the home of the Vodka Ice bar which was sampled. Also my night wearing the kilt caused the normal chaos in the local bars. I will put up my photos soon from this trip.
By the time I arrived in Berlin I was starting to suffer from the effects of a slight flu which I had been suffering, plus it was cold so I had to wrap up. I however in the 2 days there managed to visit the Brandenburg Gate, Topology of Terror outdoor exhibition, Checkpoint Charlie Exhibition, DDR Museum, Hans Wiener's Football bar at the Zoo station plus visited the Zoo itself. Never did much of the nightlife but this city is very much worth a return visit.

After this plus with work commitments spend the next few weeks keeping a very low profile as the Stockholm part of the trip (Happy Hours plus Buffets proved to be very popular especially for eating) was not cheap at all.

However at the Start of February my mum was 60, so we decided to travel up to Newtonmore for a long weekend. The forecast was snow and indeed on the outward journey to Newtonmore Main Street it did not disappoint at all, the A9 was shut as well south of Dalwhinnie. The route to Fort William was and despite the conditions only came across two bad bits, the first going up Glen Ogle between Callender and Crianlarich plus Laggen Bridge to Newtonmore.
Sadly my car came to a stand on the final 100m to the house we were staying in; this took the best part of 30 minutes which involved myself and my brother plus a local shoving my car and gritting the road ahead by hand.
A very good weekend was indeed had by all in Newtonmore and on the Monday when we went home, I decided to visit a few old friends in Fort William for the night and also take in some of the sights in the Aviemore area complete with my camera. Last week been fairly busy, been going to and from Glasvegas like a yo-yo in the last weekend. Was through on Thursday for a meeting, Friday I went to a bowling night which then ended up with a visit to the Cathouse plus a nights on Ed's couch. When I got up I went to indulge in a little shopping as I am looking for a laptop. Anyway I had to get home for at least 3pm so I could actually have a wash before I smelled like the Rutherglen Swampie so I could get ready for another night out, this time it is for Nick the Bus Driver 40 drinks which went fairly well.

Yesterday (well Sunday by the time its posted) I finally got my laptop plus a wireless network and I am very pleased to say that everything is up and running so I no longer have to get out of bed to do some surfing.

Oh yeah travel plans, off to Cairo for a week in March and Iceland in September for 5 days, still to decide what I am doing for the rest of it.
Yes I haven't forgotten that Scotland play in Macedonia this year; I however will be at a wedding that day.

This is a short entry dedicated to the memory of Vicky Hamilton who was found recently after a 16 year search.

I knew Vicky as she was in the same year as me at School and was in my English class when she disappeared in 1991 so I have always taken a keen interested in the case.

I hope she can be properly put to rest now and I hope that the laws of the land punish the person responsible for this atrocious crime.

Best wishes to here family as well, I am sure its been hard for them.
