- The now legendary story behind ChickenWing's inception is that we were formed during a 2001 KGS maths class, following a casual agreement between Paul Harcus, John Kemp, Nathan Ridgway and me to start a band, despite the fact that not one of us could play an instrument. Duncan Harcus was soon recruited as the final member, and after three years of hard practice and low-profile gigs, the story of the original ChickenWing line-up culminated in an appearance at the 2004 Fusion Battle of the Bands, where we finally achieved widespread recognition as being... "too different for Orkney" (The Orcadian, April '04).
It was at this stage that the band's long-term nemesis, golf, was to tear our drummer away from us for good, as John was lured to Dornoch by its graphite-shafted tendrils. However, when we were requested to make our triumphant return at the 'Big Sexy Charity Gig', marking the new year of 2005, Iain Stewart valiantly took up the stool, and has been with us ever since.

I think it's time for some more words to officially wrap up last Friday's event. First of all, thanks to everyone who came along and gave their support. I think we just managed to exceed the attendance we had last year, which I'm very pleased about. It was a great crowd, and unafraid to get a truly brutal mosh pit going!
I give my utmost congratulations to Chugg and Showcase Jay, because they were both fucking excellent. I'm really looking forward to seeing and playing with them again in the future, whenever it might occur (this summer?). As for ChickenWing ourselves, our usual lack of practice time showed now and again, but it was still one of the most enjoyable gigs we've played, and the crowd was as brilliant as ever. I can't help but mention the pits for the last three songs in particular; I was taken aback!
Cheers to everyone involved, and see you next time for more metal.0 Comments 289 weeks

This is just a quick message to get the word out that ChickenWing will be playing a gig in Matchies on the 4th of January 2008, which happens to be exactly one year on from the last one! We're unsure of support bands at this stage, but it looks like we may be getting a few fresh-faced metalheads from Burray to thrash it up with us.
I'll provide more details here as soon as I can, so keep 'em peeled.3 Comments 305 weeks

I felt that last Thursday's show deserved a few words on this page, so here I go. Now, we may not have had the choicest equipment to work with, the funds for a full-scale advertising campaign, or even a remotely sensible amount of practice time, but I still think we managed to pull it off in style, and the overall reactions from the attendees most definitely confirmed this for me. To be consistently congratulated for the rest of the evening once we had finished was a very touching thing, but just as much credit should go to the fans, because without you, we're a lot like a bunch of head-banging circus freaks on a stage. So, thanks for your support! Also, a big "thank you" to Dazed and Showcase Jay, both of whom put on fantastic performances on the night, which I truly enjoyed very much.
Having now had a few days to reflect on our first gig in almost a year and a half, I can't help but think about how much I want to get another show organised so we can do it all again, only better! It may take some time, but you have my guarantee, we shall return! Until then, don't forget about the metal.3 Comments 341 weeks
Bebo

we are putting together a fairly big gig (picky arena, over 16's ,early September ) and wondered if you would be interested in play. if so there will be a meeting at the support training building from 2 till 4 on friday the seventh of march. only one member of the band needs to be there but it would be best if all band members could attend. thanx for your time.
Until next year. Shall it be that long until the next gig?
Can't wait to tear shit up once again!
