2010
After several hours struggling to study for an exam despite getting the flu (again!
) I decided to write up my thoughts and plans for next year.
2009 has been a good year. i've experienced events i thought i would never get the chance to and i scored off a few things i accomplished on my list this year. I gained new friends and lost some, but living life is the greatest accomplishment anyone can do, and that i truly did this year
.
2010 is going to be the biggest year of my life. All my life i've been dependent on my family and friends for my health, food, shelter and other things, and 2010 is going to determine when i can start doing fending for myself in those areas.
I finish up university and enter the big bad world of full time career. I plan on handing in the police application next year depending on a few factors, i also hope to achieve my honours degree in june. Next year will see if 6 years of dedication and preparation mentally has paid off.
Which leads me to my biggest demon-lazyness. It's been a pain in the ass that has led to me being lazy for uni work, gym and mma. So the big aim next year is to beat that demon, i plan on training a hell of a lot, commit more to mma and the gym, especially to keep in condition for the police.
Which leads me to saying that i am seriously considering becoming abstinent from alcohol. I dont like hangovers and while i have had great times with the influence of alcohol, i can have a good night sober as well. I'm gonna give it till after new year to decide whether or not to go that route. Plus a pretty much big change in dieting to get in shape.
I want to achieve my goals next year to achieve more aims, like getting a house with chris, getting the career i've wanted since school and quite frankly, living life even more than this year
.

2009 movie year
Yeap i've decided to carry it on, even though i didn't really get to see all the films i wanted to in 2008. I'm hoping i have the funds to see this lot. So for now here's the list of films i want to see in 2009.
Sex Drive-Never had any expectations for this film. I really thought this would be on a bar with the latest teen comedy films that have failed to impress anyone over the last few years. However this one is actually pretty funny. Some very unusual humour which kept everyone in the screening awake and laughing out loud. It's a good film which im sure that everyone would like, and unlike i am legend, is a good film start to 2009.
Defiance-The oscar and golden globe nominated film that has a very interesting plotline based on the novel. To be honest i'm not surprised that as it makes you want to find out what happens to the people right to the very end (note its a true story hence why im not calling them characters). This film had potential to be as praised as other holocaust/ww II related films like the pianist. But i just get the feeling that it lacks something. Personally i don't think there's anything wrong with the actors/actresses as i thought they did a good job but i dont know. The film lacks where other films in same genre has such as very big fight scenes, but then again it's staying close to the true story (i hope!). I like the film and i liked how they told you what happened afterwards, but i just feel there could've been more to this, maybe more raw emotions showing. It's a film to watch for all ages and a film to watch if you wanna get out on weekends.
The Wrestler-I've known about this film since it began casting and had no idea it would as big success as it is right now. The film has won award after award, especially for rourke. This is a very sad film in terms of the emotion and sympathy you feel for the main character and the realisations he deals with throughout the film. This is why the film is great as it is. As a long term wrestling fan it's good to have a film that lets others have a look at the inside of wrestling and the sacrifices made. It's without a shadow of a doubt Rourkes best film i've ever seen from him, and i thought him topping his performance as Marv in Sin city would be tough. Realistically because it is about a wrestler, it's not going to attract a wider audience. All the cast do their job with emotions and tone, the final cuts do their job and the ending makes you feel and wonder. For film fanatics who are like me keen to see the best picture films as soon as possible and are all about the quality of films (i.e. not just about action etc) this is a film to check out.
The Watchmen- A very dark and very random film, though that doesn't make it a bad film. It's awesome with scenes and special effects and a story that takes a while to develop but gets going at the end. After thinking it through i believe it's graphic novel creator alan moore was right some aspects, though the film is still really good with a really good ending. It's weakness i believe is it follows too close to the comic, which in aspects if you're a follower of the novel it's the best thing possible, but if you have no idea what this is all about, you're gonna struggle to understand and take it all in. I can understand the time length can try and avoid that problem, but certain scenes themselves lag and slow the film down which for a superhero genre film, you don't really want to do as much. I have nothing but praise for Jackie Earle Haley, who played Rorschach, as he perfected the role as a hard ass vigilante with no remmorse or fear about him. It's a good film to catch though if you have no idea about it, it's gonna take a while for you to understand it's history and story development. If you're a graphic novel fan, you'll love it.
Knowing-Right after my laptop decided to be a pain and crash while reviewing this, i can now give my review. This is a random film that changes genres constantly from post-ap3 Comments 237 weeks
