    This Dark Room "crisis core"

    • It must be... for the fifteenth time.

      Its been a long time since a blog has been written here. The last one was relatively optimistic. However, in the time since i last posted quite literally nothing has been going on with This Dark Room. Keeping busy with other stuff has meant that this has been put on the backburner for a while, even if it was inadvertantly.
      Anyway, i'm writing to tell to anyone who actually may read this that Dezzy is going to Australia for 8 months. leaving in January. This means that there'll be a bass player vacancy for that time, but hopefully we should be announcing a replacement in the next couple of days. Possibly an immaculate replacement.;)
      There are possibilities for drummers seemingly showing their heads too, so once we're back to full strength we'll looking to hit a few gigs with an almost entirely new set of songs, so i'll try and keep this page updated.

    • The end of Phase 1.5 and beginning of Phase 1.75.

      Phase 1.5 is now over. we have now entered Phase 1.75.
      Phase 1.5 did not turn out as we had wished or expected. In fact, we weren't even aware that Phase 1.75 even existed until fairly recently.
      This transition of phases marks the exit of Eoghan as our drummer. We sight the old cliché of musical differences as the main culprit, with some priority issues also adding to the reasoning. Either way, we'd like to thank Eoghan for playing with us for the past year, it enabled us to get gigging and we made a good friend at the same time:)

      So this leaves us drummerless. For upcoming gigs we thankfully have friends who are drummers in other bands (namely Ron from Evincere) who'll do the job until we find someone.
      If you know a drummer or if you're a drummer who'd like to play for us leave us a comment on this page, or private mail my (Aidan) page or Ruairí's page (cos Dezzy never goes on his :Z ) and we'll send you demos of new songs (which are in a bit of a different direction:)) and we can sort out covers and stuff for the start.

      So heres hoping we finally make it to Phase 2, where all shall be revealed:L

    • We didn't lose!

      By not losing in tonights battle of the bands, we haved bucked a crippling trend that this band has been a slave to since our inception. Ok, thats the literary bollocks out of the way, we came second tonight, meaning we progress to the next round of the inter-youth café battle of the bands:)

      It was a strange gig, as we had to play as an acoustic 3-piece, as Loxy was once again battling his many mental conditions, along with his severe case of gonorrhea. Only finding out yesterday about the health risk that Loxy posed to himself and others, it looked likely that we would have to pull out of the gig. Luckily, that wiley Simon character suggested playing an acoustic set, and thats just what we did, just about:L

      Myself and ruairí started the day with a rush to town to buy strings for our stringless acoustic guitars. long story short, we got to the gig just about on time, and went on first:D
      it was really enjoyable, bar a few minor fuck-ups, and the skibb crowd continue to amaze me with their incomparable enthusiasm! even though we were playing slow quiet versions of our songs it was great fun playing to such a tolerant crowd;)

      Congratulations to The Influence who came first, and to Good Dead Me and Vague Explanation, whos set was quite the enjoyable.

      ?????Anyone here interested in a bit of busking????? Short notice I know, but if you're up for it, tomorrow is "busking day" in Bandon's lead up to Christmas. It's not a competition, but you get to keep whatever money you raise (obviously :) ) A number of spots around are allocated for buskers, but I think they are still a few buskers short. If it is wet, i think indoor spots are available too. Starts about 12 noon. If you're interested, contact Ruth at 086 8372138
