|The Holy Spirit generation.....||1/7/07|
|I heard someone say this once......|
"this generation is the Holy Spirit generation...we long so much for the Spirit, our entire being crave the Spirit and the gifts it brings...and being a loving God, our God gives us what we need at the right time.....but there is a problem...we are focussing so much on getting the power of the Holy Spirit of our Lord Jesus that we forget the blood of the Lord Jesus - the very thing that makes us confident of forgiveness in God's presence...so now we have young Christians housing the Holy Spirit in their lives and not feeling the forgiveness brought by Christ's blood....they are feeling so guilty for their sins that they feel unworthy of God's Spirit.."
This has been something really powerful in my life....im constantly confronted with the longing for the Holy Spirit but feeling unworthy of it! Now dont get me wrong, God does make sure we understand how big the Spirit is and how much respect he deserves but God gives us his Spirit freely when we accept Jesus as our sacrifice for sin.
But remember that the Spirit is a result of salvation....a result of Christ's blood spilling for us.... The disciples received the Holy Spirit only after Jesus died and rose and ascended......only after they recognised Jesus as God did the Spirit rest on them...And that's the same for you too.....If you long for the Holy Spirit as a believer but feel unworthy remember that God only gives his Spirit to those who he has accepted as his children...my advice would be, before anything you ask of God humble yourself by admitting your sins and be lifted up by Jesus through the Holy Spirit! God wants to give you his Spirit so you can work for Him and so that you can grow closer to Him....if you believe sin is getting in the way of that gift of the Spirit then admit and turn away from that sin, ........and then believe that Jesus has forgiven you!!! The Spirit will come and heal your pain!

|The Suffering Servant?.|
He didn?t appear different, now did he?
He wasn?t awesome or glorious, now was he?
There was no king-like greatness in him, now was there?
So, why would we notice him?!
The unlovable, he loved,
The untouchable, he touched,
The cursed, he cured and the sick, he healed
But, why would we notice him?!
He was kind,
He was humble,
There was no fault in him, not even one,
But, why would we notice him?!
And then.... he was taken.
On his shoulders, the world rested.
In his heart, every prayer was heard.
Silent he stood, as into him our sins were lashed.
But, why would we notice him?!
Down the tree flowed the Living Water,
Pierced, torn, mocked and betrayed.
Who could see God in this, in Him?
And, why would we notice him?!
?It is finished??.but he is not!
He appears different ? He is Risen!
He is awesome and glorious ? Ever Lasting Father!
His greatness as the King of kings cannot be measured
For he is the LORD and Saviour of ALL!!
(you can?t help but notice him!!)

|Prayer.....What is it? How can it help?!!||8/30/06|
|Often, people find the act of prayer an EXTREMELY difficult thing to get into, and then once they've gotten into it, they find it extremely difficult to pray effectively (i.e. making the best of our time spent in DIRECT conversation with God). I know from my own journey of faith that at times it can feel like we're talking to a brick wall, or that when we do pray we hear a wee voice, deep down that's telling us "you know that nothing's gonna come out of this!" ....... |
Well, here is where I'm gonna give you a wee bit of advice that I have learned from my experience of prayer and also what others have told me:
These are just some quick pointers - ill explain more afterwards....
When you pray, it should be:
5) Faith-filled....expect God to act!
OK...so WHAT IS PRAYER?? ... some people say that prayer is a heart to heart with God, in which you talk about things that are happening with you right now, thank him for the stuff he's already done, and seek his help with other things! Prayer is therefore a very intimate thing and people respond to God's call to prayer in different ways; some find a quiet place where they can give their complete attention to God the best way for them, others find praying with friends and sharing what things God has done in their lives very beneficial, while others find playing some good old worship songs and chillin with the big JC in prayer with worship the thing for them......then you have some that do all of these!! lol....whatever your way of talking with God, your intimacy and love for him are seen by God and that's all that matters - dont mind how everyone else sees you while you pray...God knows what your heart cries out for!
When we pray we are making an "intentional connection" with the Creator of the Universe (hehehe not a big deal really!! jk!)..... what that means is that when we pray we're acknowledging that God is hearing our prayers and that we know he's gonna respond like the awesome father that he is!... If that's not our belief when we settle down to prayer then we're kidding ourselves, and God!
Prayer requires our passion for, and our trust in God.... Now that's easy for me to say but it's VERY difficult to put into practice! We really need to want, and then allow God to work in our lives....If we dont want God to work in our lives then there is something seriously up with our faith....But once we've declared that we want his help, we have to allow him to get to work (a lot of christians have this notion that if they SAY they want God's help and then don't follow his obvious advice, that when everything goes wrong, God is the one who "never came to the rescue" - that isn't faith.. that's "convienience-christianity" where they expect God to work on their terms, and not them on God's terms!). Once we've made those first steps of WANTING and ALLOWING, God will take it from there!
Of course, there are the moments when we want God to act, allow him to work on our lives..........but then........tick*....tock*.....tick*...
......tock*.. we feel things arent quite happening quick enough!! Now when this happens know this; God is in control of time - he did, afterall, create time! Everything that happens has been planned by God and happens at just the right moment... if you think that you know better than God as far as what time he should act, then I'm afraid to tell you that your wrong...!!! All we can do in such situations is keep on praying to God and seeking his help..... and patience!!
Another thing dealing with timing - we need to make space in our busy lives to really knuckle down to prayer! If you're like me in the way that when you pray sometimes, you find that as soon as you've started, you've suddenly finished seconds later then the following should help you!
Just like ordinary relationships, our relationship with God is based on communication and time spent together... that way we get to know Go
